UHPC's abrasion resistance is significantly positively correlated with compressive strength, but not in a simple linear relationship. Qinglong UHPC test data show: when compressive strength increases from 120MPa to 150MPa, wear loss decreases from 0.8g/cm² to 0.5g/cm²; however, when strength continues to rise to 180MPa, wear loss only drops to 0.45g/cm². This indicates an inflection point in performance improvement.
Key factors affecting abrasion resistance include: matrix strength (40% contribution), aggregate hardness (30% contribution), fiber reinforcement (20% contribution), and interfacial bonding (10% contribution). In the optimized mix, Qinglong UHPC uses quartz sand with a Mohs hardness of 7 (0.5-1mm particle size accounting for 60%), combined with 2% steel fibers (tensile strength 2850MPa), achieving abrasion resistance 5-8 times that of ordinary concrete. An application in a highway toll station lane showed a wear depth of only 1.2mm after 5 years of use, far exceeding design expectations.
In the 120-150MPa compressive strength range, abrasion resistance improves significantly (wear loss decreases by 40%); in the 150-180MPa range, improvement slows (only a 10% decrease); beyond 180MPa, improvement is limited. This relationship guides strength design.
Quartz sand (Mohs hardness 7) provides 50% higher abrasion resistance than river sand (hardness 5); a 60% proportion of 0.5-1mm aggregate particle size is optimal; continuous grading increases density by 10%. These optimizations enhance abrasion resistance.
Steel fibers (2% dosage) improve abrasion resistance by 30%; the crack-arresting effect of fibers reduces surface spalling; three-dimensional distribution enhances overall integrity. These effects improve abrasion resistance.
Silica fume (8% dosage) improves the interfacial transition zone; water reducer (water reduction rate ≥30%) increases density; these optimizations reduce interfacial defects. These measures enhance overall performance.
Abrasion resistance requires systematic optimization. Through multi-factor synergy, Qinglong UHPC achieves high abrasion resistance.
