GRC materials offer excellent fire resistance, with a fire rating that can reach the Class A non-combustible material standard. According to GB8624-2012 "Classification of Burning Behavior of Building Materials and Products", high-quality GRC achieves Class A2 combustion performance and Class t0 smoke toxicity, making it a fully reliable fire-resistant material.
In the Shanghai Tower project, Qinglong's GRC curtain wall system passed rigorous fire tests: at a high temperature of 1000°C, the components maintained integrity for more than 2 hours, with the temperature rise on the unexposed side not exceeding 140°C. This outstanding fire performance stems from the material properties of GRC: the cement-based material itself is non-combustible, glass fiber has a melting point above 1000°C, and the material's low thermal conductivity (0.5-0.8 W/m·K) effectively blocks heat transfer. The reinforced structural design adopted in the project ensures that components will not spall or fall off in a fire, providing valuable time for personnel evacuation and firefighting. Smoke toxicity tests show that the material does not release toxic gases when burning, ensuring personnel safety.
Tested by the National Quality Supervision and Inspection Center for Fixed Fire Extinguishing Systems and Fire-Resistant Components, Qinglong GRC achieves Class A2 combustion performance, a smoke density rating of SDR≤10, and a smoke toxicity rating of quasi-safe level (AQ1), fully meeting the fire protection requirements of high-rise buildings.
Standard components have a fire resistance limit of over 2 hours, while specially designed fire wall systems reach 4 hours. This performance ensures that components maintain integrity and thermal insulation during a fire, buying time for personnel evacuation. After fire resistance tests, the residual load-bearing capacity of components still reaches 70% of the design value.
Performance remains stable in long-term use below 300°C, and the material can withstand high temperatures of 1000°C for short periods. It does not release toxic gases when exposed to fire, ensuring personnel safety. After exposure to high temperatures, the strength retention rate is >80%, still meeting service requirements.
Various fire separation components can be manufactured to meet different fire compartmentation requirements. When used in combination with steel structures, it provides effective fire protection, preventing steel structures from failing in a fire. GRC panels as thin as 20mm can achieve a 1-hour fire resistance limit.
The fire performance of GRC has been certified by authoritative institutions and verified through extensive engineering practice. With qualified products and proper design, the most stringent fire protection requirements can be met. It is recommended to use thickened GRC components at key fire protection locations, with corresponding test reports provided.
