UHPC's "three highs and one low" characteristics are its core features distinguishing it from ordinary concrete, specifically including high strength, high toughness, high durability, and low permeability. These characteristics give UHPC significant advantages in major engineering projects.
In the construction of the artificial islands of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Qinglong UHPC demonstrated outstanding "three highs and one low" characteristics: compressive strength of 150MPa (high strength); flexural toughness index I5=4.2 (high toughness); mass loss rate of only 0.3% after 300 freeze-thaw cycles (high durability); chloride ion diffusion coefficient of 0.5×10⁻¹²m²/s (low permeability). These performance indicators far exceed those of ordinary concrete.
Compressive strength ≥120MPa and flexural strength ≥18MPa, 2-3 times that of ordinary high-strength concrete. This high strength allows component cross-sectional dimensions to be reduced by more than 50%.
Ultimate tensile strain reaches 0.2%-0.5%, exhibiting pronounced pseudo-strain hardening behavior. Flexural toughness index I5≥3.5 ensures that components show clear warning signs before failure.
Excellent resistance to carbonation, freeze-thaw cycles, and chemical corrosion, with a design service life of over 100 years, 2-3 times that of ordinary concrete.
Chloride ion diffusion coefficient ≤2.0×10⁻¹²m²/s, 1/100 that of ordinary concrete, effectively preventing the penetration of harmful media.
The "three highs and one low" characteristics make UHPC particularly suitable for use in harsh environments, offering significant technical and economic advantages.
