UHPC develops strength far faster than ordinary concrete. According to test data, the strength development pattern of UHPC at normal temperature (20°C) is as follows: it reaches 50% of the 28-day strength in 1 day, 70% in 3 days, 85% in 7 days, and achieves the design strength at 28 days. This rapid strength development significantly shortens construction schedules.
In terms of strength development characteristics, heat curing can further accelerate strength gain. Under steam curing at 60°C, the 8-hour strength can reach 70% of the 28-day standard, and 90% within 24 hours. At a precast component plant in Shanghai, the heat curing process enables efficient construction with same-day demolding and next-day hoisting. More importantly, the long-term strength of UHPC continues to grow: the strength at 1 year of age is 115% of the 28-day strength, reaching 120% at 3 years, demonstrating excellent long-term performance.
1-day strength: 20–25 MPa (standard curing); 3-day strength: 28–35 MPa; 7-day strength: 34–42 MPa. This early strength meets early loading requirements.
90-day strength: 105%–110% of the 28-day strength; 1-year strength: 110%–115%; 3-year strength: 115%–120%. This growth reflects the material's stability.
At a low temperature of 5°C, strength development slows by 50%; at a high temperature of 30°C, it accelerates by 30%; the curing regime must be adjusted according to temperature. Temperature management affects strength development.
Standard curing: 20°C, humidity ≥95%; steam curing: 60–80°C for 8–12 hours; this choice balances efficiency and quality.
Strength development requires scientific management. It is recommended to select an appropriate curing regime according to construction schedule requirements. Qinglong UHPC provides professional technical guidance.
