Per China's current national standard GB 8624-2012 «Classification of Burning Behavior of Building Materials and Products», building material combustion performance is divided from high to low into A (non-combustible), B1 (difficult to combust), B2 (combustible), and B3 (easily combustible), with A subdivided into A1 and A2.
UHPC panels with fully inorganic base material can reach the A1 level — the highest "non-combustible material" rating. This means UHPC panels will not burn, will not release flame, will not produce molten drip in fire conditions, fundamentally blocking fire spread at the material-source level. Guangdong Qinglong's UHPC panels are tested by authoritative third-party institutions to stably achieve A1 with t0 smoke toxicity grade, fully meeting GB 50016 «Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings» requirements.
Building material fire performance is ultimately determined by its composition. UHPC's highest non-combustible rating comes from its fully inorganic material system:
This "fully inorganic, zero combustible" formulation gives UHPC an innate fire advantage. By contrast, aluminum-plastic composite panel cores contain polyethylene, and some engineered wood panels contain organic resin — both have combustion and toxic-gas risks at high temperature.
Many project owners confuse "combustion performance grade" with "fire resistance" — they are distinct metrics along different dimensions:
UHPC panels also excel in fire resistance. Aggregated third-party test data shows a thickness-fire resistance relationship:
| Panel Thickness | Fire Resistance Reference |
|---|---|
| 20–25 mm | ≥ 1.0–1.5 hours |
| 30 mm | ≥ 1.5–2.0 hours |
| 40–50 mm | ≥ 2.0–3.0 hours |
Specific fire resistance values are affected by mix design, fiber type, and boundary conditions — refer to component-specific fire test reports for actual projects.
Notably, UHPC performs better than ordinary concrete at high temperatures. Ordinary concrete internal water vaporizes at high temperature, pressure spikes, leading to explosive spalling. UHPC optimizes the formulation and fiber content (steel fibers melt at high temperature to form steam-escape channels), effectively relieving high-temperature internal stress, lowering spalling risk, and maintaining structural integrity under 800–1000 °C open-flame conditions.
Important reminder: UHPC panels reaching A1 does not mean the entire curtain wall system automatically complies. If combustible auxiliary materials are used in the system construction, overall fire performance will be "dragged down." Key points for professional fire construction design include:
UHPC's fire advantage is most directly visible in horizontal comparison:
UHPC panels are non-combustible, non-toxic-smoke, structurally intact at high temperature, and combine lightness with strength — so they have significant selection advantages in fire-strict public buildings.
Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Zhongshan, Guangdong, Qinglong is a comprehensive service provider for UHPC, GRC, GRG, GRP high-performance decorative building materials — covering R&D, detail design, manufacturing, installation, and after-sales maintenance. National high-tech enterprise, "Specialized, Refined, Differential, Innovative" SME.
For fire performance assurance, Qinglong's full-process quality control covers: production — strict control of combustible impurities in raw materials, automated placement and steam curing to ensure dense uniform components avoiding internal pores becoming flame pathways; testing — batch-by-batch third-party authoritative institution combustion performance, fire resistance, smoke toxicity testing to ensure every batch meets A-grade standard; design — BIM digital detail design completes fire zoning, node protection, seam stopping at drawing stage to avoid construction-stage fire short board.
In projects, Qinglong's UHPC products have passed fire acceptance in multiple fire-strict landmark projects: Huawei Songshan Lake terminal UHPC interior wall panels reached A1, passing fire acceptance; Shanghai Astronomy Museum public art project, Shenzhen Pingshan High-tech Zone Comprehensive Service Center, Nanjing East Century Plaza renovation, all achieved fire safety goals along with architectural aesthetics. Qinglong has also participated in drafting UHPC Non-Load-Bearing Components General Technical Specification to bring fire performance requirements into the standard system.
UHPC panels can reach the highest A1 non-combustible grade per GB 8624-2012, thanks to their fully inorganic system of cement, quartz sand, and steel fibers. In fire resistance, common UHPC thicknesses achieve ≥ 1.5 hours; combined with scientific fire protection construction, UHPC meets fire requirements from ordinary public buildings to super high-rise and large venues. Note that material fire performance requires systematic construction design and standardized installation to truly land — choosing a manufacturer with full-chain service capability and rich project experience is an important prerequisite for fire safety. With nearly three decades of technical depth and thousands of project landings, Guangdong Qinglong provides fire-compliant UHPC panels and overall solutions for various projects.
