Behind the implementation of the Changzhi public building GRC curtain wall project lies the industry's widespread demand for standardized construction of GRC components. As industry practitioners with nearly 30 years of deep expertise in the UHPC/GRC/GRG/GRP materials field, we have handled exterior wall construction needs for numerous public building and hotel projects across the country. Many project owners have encountered problems such as poorly secured GRC components, large jointing deviations, and later cracking or detachment—and the core root cause of these problems mostly lies in failure to strictly follow standardized dry-hanging construction procedures. Today, drawing on the implementation experience of the Changzhi public building GRC curtain wall project, we will systematically outline the core construction specifications for dry-hanging GRC components on hotel exterior walls, providing practical and referenceable guidance for project owners and designers of all kinds. I. Core Preparation Specifications Before GRC Curtain Wall Construction Many problems that emerge during the construction phase are essentially hidden dangers planted during the early preparation stage. For projects like the Changzhi public building with extremely high quality requirements, and for application scenarios like hotel exterior walls that are exposed to outdoor environments over the long term, early preparation must focus on three core dimensions: First is component inspection upon delivery. GRC, or glass fiber reinforced concrete, requires item-by-item verification of each component's flexural strength and weather resistance test reports upon arrival. The flexural strength of high-quality GRC components must reach 20MPa or above, and component numbers must be checked against the detailed design drawings to avoid wrong or missing pieces. Second is base treatment. The base for dry-hanging construction must have a flatness deviation of no more than 3mm, and the concrete base must have a strength grade of no less than C25. If the base has hollowing or cracking issues, reinforcement treatment must be carried out first to prevent later component detachment caused by base deformation. Finally is positioning and setting-out. Three-dimensional laser scanning positioning technology is recommended to determine anchor point locations. Hotel exterior walls often feature irregular curved shapes, and positioning accuracy directly determines the quality of subsequent component jointing—this is a core lesson summarized from the many star-rated hotel projects we have served. II. Core Construction Specifications for Dry-Hanging GRC Components on Hotel Exterior Walls The dry-hanging stage is the core of GRC curtain wall quality. Drawing on the construction experience of the Changzhi public building GRC curtain wall project, as well as our industry experience participating in formulating the Technical Standard for Building Application of Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement (GRC) (JGJ/T423-2018), dry-hanging construction must strictly follow three core requirements: First is the selection and installation of anchors. Anchors must be made of hot-dip galvanized stainless steel; the pull-out force of each anchor must meet the safety requirements of public building projects; anchoring depth must be no less than 10cm; and each GRC component must have no fewer than 4 fixing points. For irregular components weighing more than 50kg each, additional auxiliary fixing points must be added to eliminate falling hazards at the source. Second is the component jointing technique. The joints between adjacent GRC components must be controlled within 3-5mm; flexible cushion pads must be installed at the joints before jointing to prevent component cracking caused by thermal deformation; and after jointing, dedicated GRC joint-filling material must be used for sealing to prevent rainwater penetration from corroding the internal steel frame. Third is shape precision control. Hotel exterior walls often feature complex decorative lines and curved shapes. Modular installation should be adopted during construction, with a precision check after every 3-5 components installed to avoid error accumulation and ensure the overall wall's flatness deviation does not exceed 2mm.
III. Acceptance and Maintenance Specifications After GRC Curtain Wall Construction Many project owners tend to overlook post-construction acceptance and long-term maintenance, yet these are precisely what guarantee the long-term stable operation of a GRC curtain wall. According to the standardized procedure, after GRC curtain wall construction is completed, a comprehensive water spray test must first be conducted, with continuous water spraying for no less than 2 hours, to check all joints for leakage. Next, an overall visual inspection must be performed to confirm that component surfaces are free of cracks and chipped corners and that joints are uniform and consistent. Finally, a complete quality traceability file must be provided to the project owner, including test reports for each batch of components, pull-out test records for anchors, and acceptance documentation for construction milestones. As a GRC manufacturer with full-chain service capabilities, we also provide long-term after-sales maintenance services for partner projects, conducting regular follow-up visits to check the operating condition of components—one of the core reasons why many public building and hotel projects choose to work with us.
As a Qinglong GRC manufacturer with 28 years of full-chain service experience, we have undertaken thousands of GRC curtain wall projects across the country, from the Changzhi public building GRC curtain wall project to star-rated hotel exterior wall projects in various regions. We have always believed that standardized construction specifications are the bottom line of project quality. As a national high-tech enterprise and vice-chairman unit of the China GRC Association, Qinglong can not only provide project owners with GRC component products that meet industry standards, but also offer one-stop solutions from detailed design and manufacturing to construction installation and after-sales maintenance, helping all types of projects achieve GRC curtain wall results that combine safety and aesthetics while keeping costs under control.
