Liangping High-Rise GRC Exterior Wall Dry-Hanging: Load-Bearing & Installation Standards for Curtain Wall GRC Components

The dry-hanging installation of GRC exterior walls for Liangping high-rise buildings, along with the load-bearing and installation standards for curtain wall GRC components, represents a core technical pain point of shared concern among many owners, designers, and contractors in the implementation of current high-rise public buildings and commercial landmark projects. As an industry-leading enterprise with nearly 30 years of full-chain service experience in UHPC/GRC/GRG/GRP, Qinglong GRC manufacturer participated in the formulation of multiple national and industry standards, including the Technical Standard for Application of Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement (GRC) in Buildings (JGJ/T423-2018). Drawing on implementation experience from nearly 1,000 high-rise curtain wall projects, we have systematically reviewed the core technical requirements for dry-hanging GRC exterior walls in high-rise scenarios, providing an actionable reference for all parties involved. I. Core Load-Bearing Logic and Parameter Standards for High-Rise Curtain Wall GRC Components The wind loads, seismic actions, and thermal deformation effects of high-rise projects are far greater than those of ordinary multi-story buildings, so the load-bearing design of GRC components cannot simply apply the specification requirements for conventional scenarios. Based on Qinglong's implementation experience across multiple high-rise projects exceeding 100 meters, the first step is to clarify the mechanical parameter baselines of the GRC components themselves: high-quality curtain wall grade GRC must achieve a flexural strength consistently above 20MPa, with surface density controlled within the range of 18-22kg/㎡—only about 1/4 the weight of traditional stone curtain walls—reducing additional load pressure on the main structure at the material level. On this basis, the load-bearing system design should follow the principle of "zoned load-bearing with redundant reserves": the load-bearing threshold of each independent hanger must be more than 3 times the actual self-weight of the component. Meanwhile, in view of Liangping's local climate characteristics, additional safety margins for freeze-thaw cycles and extreme windy weather must also be reserved to prevent load-bearing degradation after long-term use.

II. Dedicated Installation Specifications for Dry-Hanging GRC Exterior Walls in Liangping High-Rise Scenarios Climate and geological characteristics vary significantly across regions, creating markedly different adaptability requirements for installation processes. In view of the environmental characteristics of Liangping high-rise projects, the Qinglong GRC team has summarized three categories of core installation control points: first, the reliability of base connections—high-rise walls are mostly cast-in-place concrete structures, so before installation, 3D laser scanning must be used to verify base flatness, and areas with deviations exceeding 3mm must undergo leveling pretreatment to avoid uneven loading on hangers; second, weather-resistance treatment of the anchoring system—all metal hangers must be made of 316-grade stainless steel, with butyl rubber buffer gaskets fitted at contact points to offset stress concentration caused by thermal deformation; finally, joint sealing technology—flexible weather-resistant sealant must be applied in layered fills, reserving more than 15% deformation space to prevent component cracking and joint misalignment under alternating summer heat and winter cold. To date, multiple high-rise GRC exterior wall projects undertaken by Qinglong in the Southwest region have shown no falling off, deformation, or other issues after years of use—the key lies in scenario-based adaptation of installation standards.

III. Full-Process Risk Mitigation Plan for High-Rise GRC Curtain Wall Projects Many clients have concerns about the safety of high-rise GRC components, which essentially stems from unclear quality control logic across the entire project process. To thoroughly avoid related risks, attention cannot be limited to the installation stage itself; control must start from the early design stage: during detailed design, load-bearing verification and node force simulation should be completed simultaneously to prevent problems such as unimplementable design drawings or substandard load-bearing capacity; during production, sampling tests for flexural and impact performance should be conducted on every batch of components, with substandard products sent directly back for reprocessing; during installation, modular prefabrication and zero on-site welding techniques should be adopted to reduce error risks from on-site operations; and after project delivery, after-sales maintenance services of no less than 5 years should be provided, with regular inspection and maintenance of hangers and anchoring points. As one of the few GRC full-chain manufacturers in China holding Grade II qualification for professional contracting of building curtain wall engineering, Qinglong's complete control system has been validated in hundreds of high-rise projects and can fully meet the full-cycle safety requirements of high-rise curtain wall projects.

For all parties currently advancing Liangping high-rise GRC exterior wall projects, clarifying the core standards for load-bearing and installation is essentially about finding the optimal balance between aesthetic effect, cost control, and long-term safety. The high plasticity and lightweight, high-strength characteristics of GRC materials perfectly match high-rise projects' demands for design freedom and load control. As long as scenario-appropriate technical standards are strictly followed, GRC can fully serve as a cost-effective choice for high-end high-rise curtain walls.
