Four Key Needs at the Junction

GRC exterior wall to door/window opening junction must simultaneously meet waterproofing, insulation, structural safety, and visual continuity. Any single weak point can compromise the entire facade system.

1. Waterproofing Treatment

The junction is the highest-risk leak path. Apply:
● Multi-layer gradient waterproof: structural waterproof + waterproof membrane + sealant layer
● Compatible sealants rated for the local climate (neutral weather-resistant for coastal, low-temperature flexible for cold regions)
● Drip line and slope detail to shed water away from the opening

2. Thermal Bridge Control

Window frames conduct heat easily. Insert thermal-break strips or wrap insulation around the frame-to-GRC interface to eliminate thermal bridges and prevent condensation.

3. Structural Anchorage

● Use hot-dip galvanized or S316 stainless steel embedments at the opening perimeter
● Three-line positioning method: axis line, opening centerline, and GRC line must align within ±3 mm tolerance
● Flexible anchorage allows ±3 mm adjustment to absorb structural movement

4. Visual Continuity

GRC lines, moldings, and surface finishes must continue seamlessly around openings. Use BIM-driven detailing to align the GRC profile with the window frame reveal.

Three-Layer GRC-UHPC-GRG Composite (High-End)

For premium projects, a three-layer composite can be used at critical openings: GRC structural base + UHPC thin decorative layer + GRG fine-detail finishing. This combines structural strength with refined aesthetics.
