In the field of architectural decoration, GRC materials, thanks to their light weight, high strength, flexible shaping and other properties, are widely used in various applications such as curtain wall panels, moldings, and reliefs. However, GRC products for different purposes differ significantly in quality standards, which requires all-around professional control from material formulation and process control to performance testing. As Qinglong Group with 28 years of industry experience, we will analyze these differences from a technical perspective to provide designers and owners with a scientific reference for product selection.
1. GRC Curtain Wall Panels: Wind Pressure Resistance and Durability Are the Core Quality Indicators
As the “outer garment” of building facades, curtain wall panels directly bear wind loads, temperature changes, and rain erosion, making their quality requirements the most stringent. High-quality GRC curtain wall panels must meet three core standards: first, flexural strength ≥15MPa to ensure no deformation under strong wind loads; second, a composite formula of alkali-resistant glass fiber and low-alkali cement, with over 300 freeze-thaw cycles to adapt to different climate zones; third, a special sealing process on the surface, with water tightness reaching 1.5kPa·m³/(m²·h). The fully automated production line at Qinglong’s Nanning production base, through precise control of fiber content (typically 4.5%-5%) and forming pressure, keeps the dimensional error of curtain wall panels within ±2mm, far exceeding the industry average. 2. GRC Moldings: Precision and Artistry Determine the Decorative Effect
Decorative moldings are the “outlining brush” of building facades, and their quality differences are mainly reflected in shaping precision and surface texture. Ordinary moldings often have blurred contours due to insufficient mold precision, while high-end GRC moldings require laser-scanned custom molds, ensuring a concave corner radius ≤5mm and a convex corner straightness error ≤1mm/m. Taking a European-style building project undertaken by Qinglong as an example, its Roman column moldings achieved 0.3mm-level texture fidelity through 3D modeling and CNC engraving technology. In addition, the impact resistance of moldings is equally critical, requiring an impact toughness of 10kJ/m² to avoid damage during transportation and installation.
3. GRC Reliefs: Material Uniformity and Detail Expression Are Key
Relief products place extremely high demands on material plasticity and detail reproduction, and their quality differences are mainly reflected in two aspects: first, fiber distribution uniformity—for reliefs made with the spray-up process, three-dimensional random fiber distribution can increase flexural strength by 30%; second, surface treatment technology—Qinglong’s original “multi-layer texture forming method” achieves precise control from 0.5mm shallow relief to 50mm deep relief, with surface porosity ≤2%. In a museum relief project, by adjusting the initial setting time of the cement-based material, 0.2mm fine textures were successfully reproduced, which is difficult to achieve with ordinary prefabrication processes. The quality differences in GRC products for different purposes essentially reflect the degree of match between material properties and application scenarios. As a national high-tech enterprise, Qinglong has participated in the formulation of standards such as the “Technical Standard for Building Application of Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement (GRC)”, establishing a full-chain quality control system covering design, production, and construction. Whether it is curtain wall panels bearing strong wind loads or reliefs pursuing artistic expression, only by choosing a manufacturer with full-process service capabilities can the final presentation and long-term performance of a project be ensured.
