Under the dual demands of modern architectural aesthetics and structural safety, super-high double-curved GRC panels have become the preferred solution for landmark building facade decoration, thanks to their lightweight, high-strength, and flexible shaping characteristics. However, how to ensure their wind load resistance in typhoon-prone regions or super high-rise buildings has always been a core concern for designers and developers. As an industry leader with 28 years of deep expertise in the UHPC/GRC/GRG/GRP materials field, Qinglong Group leverages full-chain technical capabilities—spanning design optimization, material innovation, and construction control—to build a systematic wind load resistance solution, safeguarding both building safety and artistic expression.
I. Structural Design: From Mechanical Simulation to Joint Optimization, Building a Solid Foundation for Wind Load Resistance
The wind load resistance of super-high double-curved GRC panels depends first of all on a scientific structural design system. Relying on a BIM parametric design platform and finite element analysis software, Qinglong's technical team conducts wind load simulation and stress analysis on the double-curved panels, precisely calculating wind pressure coefficients at different heights and curvatures to ensure the optimal matching of panel thickness, reinforcement density, and support spacing. Taking a 300-meter super high-rise project as an example, upgrading the single-point anchorage of traditional flat GRC panels to "matrix-style elastic connection" joints, combined with metal connectors featuring adjustable displacement, allows the panels to achieve ±50mm elastic deformation under positive and negative wind pressure, releasing thermal stress while avoiding rigid failure. In addition, to address the complexity of double-curved shapes, Qinglong innovatively adopts a "block prefabrication + on-site assembly" modular design, establishing a digital twin model with Rhino and Grasshopper to incorporate the wind load resistance capacity of each panel into the overall structural calculation, ensuring system stability.
II. Material Innovation: Fiber Reinforcement and Formula Optimization to Enhance the Intrinsic Performance of GRC
Materials are the physical foundation of wind load resistance. Qinglong GRC panels use high-purity rapid-hardening sulphoaluminate cement as the base material, blended with self-developed nano-scale silica fume and ultra-fine quartz sand to form a dense microstructure; meanwhile, imported alkali-free glass fiber mesh is selected and, through a three-dimensional interweaving process, achieves uniform distribution with a fiber volume content of ≥5%, pushing the panels' flexural strength beyond 20MPa and elastic modulus to 25GPa—an improvement of over 30% compared with ordinary GRC. For high-humidity coastal environments, Qinglong also incorporates a composite rust inhibitor and hydrophobic agent into the formula; after 1,000 hours of salt spray testing with no corrosion, the long-term wind load resistance does not degrade. Notably, the Technical Standard for Building Application of Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement (GRC) (JGJ/T423-2018), in whose development Qinglong participated, clearly specifies the material performance indicators of wind load resistant GRC panels, providing an authoritative technical reference for the industry.
III. Construction Control: From Factory Prefabrication to On-site Installation, Full-process Quality Control
Rigorous construction techniques are the key guarantee for delivering wind load resistance performance in practice. At its production base in Nanning, Guangxi, Qinglong has introduced automated production lines and 3D scanning quality inspection equipment to keep the geometric dimensional error of double-curved GRC panels within ±2mm; before leaving the factory, every panel undergoes flexural and impact resistance testing and is embedded with an RFID chip for full life-cycle traceability. During on-site installation, 3D laser positioning technology raises anchoring point installation precision to ±3mm, and together with special epoxy adhesive and stainless steel expansion bolts, ensures a joint pull-out force of ≥15kN. For projects in typhoon-prone regions, Qinglong has also innovatively developed a "wind pressure monitoring system", embedding micro-sensors on panel surfaces to monitor wind pressure dynamics in real time and link them with a structural safety early-warning platform, achieving intelligent operation and maintenance.
From the double-curved curtain wall of a cultural center in Guangzhou to the irregularly shaped sunshades of an international airport in Saudi Arabia, Qinglong GRC panels—backed by a trinity "design-material-construction" wind load resistance technology system—have been successfully applied in hundreds of key projects at home and abroad. As a national high-tech enterprise and a participant in formulating GRC industry standards, Qinglong has always upheld the mission of "creating beautiful architecture"; through continuous technical innovation, super-high double-curved GRC panels not only fulfill architectural aesthetic pursuits but also build a solid safety barrier for city skylines. Looking ahead, with the development of UHPC and GRC composite technology, Qinglong will further explore lightweight, high-strength wind load resistance solutions, promoting the application of new architectural decorative materials across broader fields.
