In the field of architectural decoration, UHPC components have become the material of choice for numerous landmark projects thanks to their ultra-high strength and outstanding durability. However, during transportation from the production workshop to the construction site, damage to component edges and corners has always been an industry pain point—on one commercial complex project, improper transport caused 30% of the UHPC decorative panels to chip, directly resulting in losses of hundreds of thousands of yuan. As an industry leader with 28 years of deep expertise in UHPC/GRC/GRG/GRP materials, Qinglong Group has drawn on its full-chain service experience to develop a systematic transport protection solution, helping projects achieve “zero-damage” delivery.
I. Transport Characteristics and Risk Analysis of UHPC Components
Although UHPC (ultra-high performance concrete) can achieve a compressive strength of over 150MPa, stress concentration occurs at component edges and corners, making them prone to micro-cracks under impact or vibration. Through practice on more than 1,000 projects, Qinglong’s technical team found that transport damage mainly stems from three factors: vertical impact caused by vehicle jolting (accounting for 42% of damage causes), stress damage from stacking and squeezing of components (35%), and handling errors during loading and unloading (23%). Particularly for openwork UHPC components with a thickness of less than 50mm, the damage rate under traditional transport methods can be as high as 18%.
II. Full-Process Protection Technology: Precision Control from Packaging to Transport
At its production base in Nanning, Guangxi, Qinglong has established a “three-tier protection system”: primary protection wraps component edges and corners with EPE pearl cotton, combined with custom EPS foam molds for full encapsulation; secondary protection uses aluminum alloy frames for rigid fixing, with a 3mm-thick neoprene buffer layer embedded at the contact surfaces between frames and components; tertiary protection employs BIM technology to simulate transport conditions, with segmented transport rack designs for extra-long components (over 6 meters). This combined approach reduced the transport damage rate of the UHPC light-transmitting concrete components on the Nanjing East Road Century Plaza project to below 0.3%.
The choice of transport vehicles is equally critical. Qinglong requires designated vehicles to meet three standards: suspension systems using air spring shock absorption (amplitude controlled within ±3cm), cargo compartment floors lined with 50mm-thick high-density polyurethane boards, and GPS positioning with triaxial acceleration sensors for real-time monitoring of transport status. On the Dongguan Women and Children’s Activity Center project, adjusting vehicle speed through full-journey data monitoring kept the components’ resonance frequency below 2Hz, effectively avoiding resonance damage.
III. Industry Practice: From Standard-Setting to Emergency Solutions
As a participating unit in drafting the industry standard General Technical Conditions for Non-Load-Bearing Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) Components, Qinglong has incorporated transport specifications into its corporate standard Q/QL 003-2024, clearly stipulating stacking methods for different component types—flat components stacked in no more than 5 layers, and irregularly shaped components requiring independent work racks. For overseas transport scenarios (such as a cultural tourism project in Malaysia), it innovatively adopted vacuum packaging combined with nitrogen-filled container protection, solving the problems of corrosion and micro-cracks in high-humidity environments.
A sound emergency plan is the last line of defense. Each transport batch is equipped with a dedicated repair toolkit containing epoxy resin repair agent and UHPC-specific repair mortar, allowing minor damage to be repaired on site. Qinglong’s after-sales team pledges to respond to damage reports within 2 hours and provide solutions within 24 hours. This dual-track model of “prevention + emergency response” has enabled it to maintain a customer satisfaction rate of over 98% in cooperation with property developers such as Poly and Vanke.
From corner radius optimization of components at the detailed design stage, to intelligent monitoring during transport, and then to full inspection before installation, Qinglong carries its philosophy of “meticulousness and excellence” throughout. As a national “specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative” enterprise, Qinglong is redefining the whole life-cycle management standard for UHPC components through technological innovation, providing the industry with a full-chain solution from material R&D to finished product delivery, so that every UHPC component perfectly embodies the original design intent.
