In building exterior wall projects in high-temperature regions, water management of GRC materials directly affects construction quality and structural safety. As an industry technology leader with 28 years of full-chain experience in UHPC/GRC/GRG/GRP, Qinglong Group has developed a systematic water evaporation control solution based on hands-on practice in hundreds of high-temperature region projects, which ensures strength development of GRC components while avoiding cracking risks caused by excessive water loss.
Water Challenges of GRC Materials in High-Temperature Environments and Core Control Logic
High-temperature, high-radiation environments increase the surface water evaporation rate of GRC materials by 3-5 times; without scientific intervention, problems such as surface cracking and insufficient strength can easily occur. By comparing construction data across different climate zones, Qinglong's technical team found that when ambient temperature exceeds 35℃ and relative humidity falls below 40%, the pass rate of GRC components under traditional curing methods drops by 22%. Therefore, water management must work synergistically across three dimensions—material formula optimization, construction process improvement, and curing system upgrades—to build a full-cycle water balance mechanism.
Anti-Evaporation Solutions at the Material Formula Level
To address high-temperature characteristics, Qinglong adopts dual-admixture technology to optimize the GRC mix ratio: on one hand, 0.02% cellulose ether is added to extend water retention time, increasing initial setting time from 4 hours to 6.5 hours; on the other hand, 5% silica fume is added to improve paste densification and reduce capillary water absorption. In the Nanning ASEAN Culture and Art Center project, this formula increased the early strength of GRC exterior wall panels by 18% and kept the surface cracking rate below 0.3%. Meanwhile, by adjusting the glass fiber content to 5%, a three-dimensional network structure locks in internal moisture while ensuring a flexural strength of 22MPa.
Dynamic Water Management Technology During Construction
An innovative "segmented construction + intelligent monitoring" model is adopted, scheduling exterior wall construction during morning and evening periods when temperatures are below 30℃. Real-time temperature and humidity monitors are deployed on site; when the evaporation rate exceeds 0.5kg/(m²·h), a misting spray system is immediately activated, creating a microenvironment with local humidity above 80%. In the Riyadh commercial complex project in Saudi Arabia, Qinglong's team used this technology to increase daily construction efficiency by 40% while shortening the component curing cycle to 7 days. In addition, prefabricated components are produced in factories, where steam curing ensures early strength meets standards before they are transported to the site for installation, avoiding high-temperature construction risks at the source.
Full-Cycle Assurance Strategy for the Curing System
A "three-stage curing method" is established: during the initial setting stage, breathable moisture-retention film is used for covering to prevent surface crusting; in the middle stage, a dedicated curing liquid forms a protective film, reducing the water evaporation rate by 60%; in the later stage, combined with infrared temperature measurement, secondary water spray curing is performed when the internal temperature of components drops to within ±5℃ of the ambient temperature. This system withstood the test of continuous 40℃ high temperatures in the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Terminal 3 project, with GRC curtain wall panels achieving a 28-day compressive strength of 65MPa, far exceeding design requirements. Qinglong's self-developed curing liquid also obtained a national invention patent; its core ingredients form a reversible hydration film on the material surface, resolving the contradiction between breathability and water retention in traditional curing agents.
As a member of the International GRC Association, Qinglong has always made material performance and environmental adaptability key priorities in technology R&D. By converting 28 years of engineering experience into standardized solutions, it has provided GRC exterior wall system services to more than 30 high-temperature regions worldwide. Going forward, Qinglong will continue deepening its research on the weather resistance of UHPC/GRC materials and, guided by its mission of "creating beautiful architecture," provide more valuable technical support for architectural aesthetics and structural safety in high-temperature regions.
