Under the dual challenges of modern architectural aesthetics and engineering safety, ultra-high double-curved GRC panels have become the preferred solution for landmark building envelope design thanks to their lightweight, high-strength, and flexible formability. However, ensuring their wind-load resistance in typhoon-prone regions or on super high-rise buildings remains a core concern for the industry. As an industry leader with 28 years of full-chain experience in UHPC/GRC/GRG/GRP materials, Qinglong Group has built a systematic wind-load resistance solution through material formulation optimization, structural mechanics innovation, and engineering practice verification, providing dual assurance of safety and aesthetics for super high-rise and large-span buildings.
Material Genes: The Underlying Logic of Wind-Load Resistance in GRC Panels
The wind-load resistance of glass fiber reinforced concrete (GRC) derives from its unique material composite system. At the material R&D stage, Qinglong established a trinity optimization strategy of “fiber–matrix–interface”: high alkali-resistant glass fiber (content ≥5%) is combined with low-alkalinity cement-based materials, and through independently developed fiber dispersion technology, the material's flexural strength is raised to above 20MPa with an elastic modulus of 25GPa, ensuring the panels are less prone to plastic deformation under strong wind loads. Meanwhile, nano silica fume and ultra-fine mineral powder modification technologies are introduced to reduce the material's drying shrinkage rate to below 0.08%, minimizing the risk of interfacial cracking caused by temperature and humidity changes and improving the panels' structural stability at the source.
Structural Innovation: Mechanical Optimization for Double-Curved Forms
The wind-load design of ultra-high double-curved GRC panels must go beyond the mechanical models of traditional flat panels. Through its BIM parametric design platform, Qinglong established a coupled analysis model of “wind pressure–shape coefficient–structural response,” optimizing the panels' curvature radius (as small as 300mm) and thickness gradient distribution (graduating from 15mm to 30mm) based on the aerodynamic characteristics of double-curved surfaces. For the anchoring system, “three-dimensionally adjustable stainless steel connectors” are adopted, and finite element simulation verification ensures that each anchor provides pull-out resistance ≥15kN, while elastic gaskets deliver shock absorption and buffering, effectively resolving stress concentration under strong wind impact. In a coastal landmark project, this technology enabled a double-curved GRC curtain wall system at a height of 120 meters to successfully withstand a Category 14 typhoon, with displacement kept within the limits permitted by codes.
Engineering Practice: Full-Chain Quality Control as Implementation Assurance
Achieving wind-load resistance depends on strict full-process quality control. Qinglong has established automated production lines at its production base in Nanning, Guangxi, using robotic spray molding and steam curing processes to ensure the panels' strength coefficient of variation is ≤5%; before leaving the factory, 1:1 wind tunnel simulation tests are conducted to monitor surface wind pressure distribution at different wind incidence angles; during on-site installation, 3D laser scanning positioning technology achieves millimeter-level joining precision, complemented by the dual assurance of structural adhesive and mechanical fixing. As a co-authoring unit of the Technical Standard for Application of Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement (GRC) in Buildings (JGJ/T423-2018), Qinglong has transformed its 28 years of engineering experience into standardized processes, providing tailored wind-load resistance solutions for each project from detailed design to after-sales maintenance, successfully applied to 300+ super high-rise projects in China as well as overseas projects in Southeast Asia.
From the micro-level optimization of material formulations to macro-level control in engineering practice, Qinglong, guided by its mission of “creating beautiful architecture,” embeds technological innovation into the genes of every GRC panel. Today, as building envelope design increasingly pursues individuality and safety, the wind-load resistance technology of ultra-high double-curved GRC panels is not only a baseline requirement for engineering safety, but also a perfect fusion of materials science and architectural art. Looking ahead, as UHPC and GRC composite technology continues to advance, Qinglong will keep driving the upgrade of industry standards, contributing “intelligent manufacturing from China” solutions to the world of architectural aesthetics.
