Temporary supports are the "invisible guardians" in the GRC panel installation process, and their installation quality directly affects construction safety and the final forming results. As an industry veteran with 28 years of full-chain experience in UHPC/GRC/GRG/GRP materials, Qinglong Group will systematically explain the standardized installation methods and core technical points of temporary supports for GRC panels, in accordance with the Technical Standard for Building Applications of Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement (GRC) (JGJ/T423-2018).
Core Functions and Design Principles of Temporary Supports for GRC Panels
During the transition stage of GRC panels from production and transportation to installation and fixing, temporary supports must fulfill three key missions: first, to offset the bending stress caused by the panel's own weight; second, to resist construction loads and wind loads; and third, to ensure installation accuracy meets the design coordinates. The Qinglong technical team emphasizes that support design must follow three major principles: "matched strength, sufficient rigidity, and reliable stability." For GRC panels of different specifications (such as exterior wall cladding panels or special-shaped decorative components with a thickness of 15-30mm), dedicated mechanical calculations are required to avoid panel cracking or falling risks caused by support failure.
Standardized Installation Process and Key Technical Parameters
The erection of the temporary support system must strictly follow a standardized process. First, support points are determined based on the dimensions, weight, and installation height of the GRC panels; the "four-point support method" is usually adopted, with spacing controlled within the range of 800-1200mm to ensure uniform load distribution. Support components should preferably be Q235B grade structural steel or high-strength aluminum alloy; the vertical pole diameter should be no less than 50mm, the horizontal bar spacing no more than 1.5m, and all nodes must be fixed with double couplers. When precasting GRC components, Qinglong's production base reserves dedicated support connectors, which work with adjustable screw jacks to achieve fine adjustment with ±3mm precision—a detail fully verified in projects such as the Nanjing Road Century Plaza renovation.
Support Solutions for Special Scenarios
For complex installation scenarios such as curved GRC curtain walls and large-span sunshades, temporary supports require customized design. For example, in the Dongguan Women and Children's Activity Center project, the Qinglong technical team used BIM technology to simulate the stress state of the supports and adopted a combined solution of "curved brackets + diagonal bracing reinforcement" for double-curved GRC components, using 3D laser scanning to ensure the deviation between the support system and the designed curved surface is ≤2mm. For high-altitude installation work, the support system also needs additional lateral stability devices, with wind load resistance capacity meeting the design requirement of 1.5kN/m², along with anti-fall safety rope anchor points.
Quality Control and Acceptance Criteria
Acceptance of temporary supports must implement the "three-inspection system": self-inspection focuses on support spacing, member verticality, and node firmness; mutual inspection is carried out through cross-verification by construction teams; and specialized inspection requires using a torque wrench to confirm coupler pretightening force (≥40N·m) and conducting a static load test at 1.2 times the design load. The GRC Installation Quality Traceability System established by Qinglong requires numbered records for each support unit, combined with RFID chips to achieve full-process quality monitoring—a management model that has become an industry benchmark.
As a national high-tech enterprise and a participant in setting GRC industry standards, Qinglong Group has always believed that although temporary supports are only temporary construction measures, they directly reflect a company's technical strength and engineering management level. From support scheme simulation during the detailed design stage, to refined installation on the construction site, and finally to safe removal, every step must uphold the quality commitment of "meticulousness and excellence." Only by choosing a GRC manufacturer with full-chain service capabilities can project safety and quality be fundamentally guaranteed—this is precisely the core reason why Qinglong has maintained long-term cooperation with renowned enterprises such as Poly and China Overseas.
