Curvature Protection, Striving for Perfection: Qinglong's Practice in Double-Curved GRC Panel Transport Technology
Under the dual requirements of architectural aesthetics and structural safety, double-curved GRC panels have become the "artistic language" of landmark buildings thanks to their unique curved forms. However, in the transport stage from production workshop to project site, protecting curvature precision has always been a widely recognized technical challenge in the industry. As an industry leader with 28 years of deep expertise in UHPC/GRC/GRG/GRP materials, Qinglong Group has built a transport protection system for double-curved GRC panels with full-chain technical strength. Through material property research, customized packaging solutions, and intelligent logistics management, it has kept the transport damage rate below the industry-leading 0.3%, setting a technical benchmark for curvature protection in the industry.
Core Challenges in Double-Curved GRC Panel Transport: The Dual Test of Material Properties and Curvature Precision
Transport protection for double-curved GRC panels (glass fibre reinforced concrete) must directly confront two core contradictions. On the one hand, the material—composed of glass fibres combined with a cement matrix—makes panels prone to micro-cracks when subjected to impact or uneven loading; on the other hand, the streamlined curves of the double-curved design (with a minimum curvature radius as small as 300mm) place extremely high demands on the stability of supporting structures. In a cultural centre project, conventional transport methods once caused curvature deviations exceeding 5mm in three double-curved GRC facade panels, directly affecting installation precision and visual effect. Through practice across 2000+ projects, Qinglong Group has concluded that vibration frequency (1–50Hz), temperature variation (±15°C), and stacking pressure during transport are the three main causes of curvature deformation, requiring a targeted multi-dimensional protection system.
Curvature Protection Technology: A Full-Process Solution from Material Optimization to Intelligent Packaging
Relying on the technical advantages of its national-level R&D centre, Qinglong Group has formed an integrated "materials–packaging–transport" protection technology. At the material pretreatment stage, the addition of basalt fibre reinforcement layers (boosting tensile strength by 20%) and nano-silane impregnation treatment raise the panel surface hardness to above Shore D85, enhancing impact resistance. The packaging stage adopts a "customized bionic support" design: models are created based on double-curved surface parameters, and 3D-printed high-density polyurethane liners are combined with adjustable aluminium alloy frames to achieve 6-point uniform load-bearing support, reducing stress concentration by 30% compared with traditional wooden crates. For oversized panels (single-panel area >10㎡), the innovative "air-cushion suspension transport technology" is applied: built-in pressure sensors monitor loading conditions in real time, and together with GPS positioning and temperature-humidity monitoring systems, a fully visualized logistics management platform is established.
Practical Validation: Technology Implementation from Laboratory to Project Site
In a grand theatre project in Nanjing, Qinglong Group implemented a full-process curvature protection scheme for 78 double-curved GRC ceiling panels: modular transport racks positioned the panels "vertically at a 45° tilt", with flexible cushioning materials filling the gaps. After 300 km of road transport, the measured curvature deviations were all kept within 2mm, and the one-time installation pass rate reached 100%. This technical scheme has been incorporated into the transport specifications chapter of the Technical Standard for Application of Glass Fibre Reinforced Cement (GRC) in Buildings (JGJ/T423-2018). As a member unit of the International GRC Association, Qinglong Group's double-curved component transport technology has also been successfully applied to a landmark project in Malaysia, achieving zero-loss delivery of 40 special-shaped GRC panels in a high-temperature, high-humidity environment, fully validating the technology's universal applicability.
From detailed design to after-sales maintenance, Qinglong Group, guided by its mission of "creating beautiful architecture", transforms 28 years of technical accumulation into the safety assurance of every double-curved GRC panel. In the field of customized UHPC/GRC/GRG/GRP materials, curvature protection is not only a technical indicator but also the ultimate respect for architectural art. Looking ahead, Qinglong will continue to explore intelligent and green transport technologies, providing global designers with full-chain solutions from concept to realization, so that every curved surface perfectly presents the original design intent.
