How Long Is the Service Life of Products from GRC Manufacturers?

The design service life of GRC products is a systematic engineering indicator that depends on the durability of the materials themselves, the soundness of the structural design, the quality of construction and installation, and the service environment. Under normal design, construction, use, and maintenance, high-quality GRC products can achieve a service life of more than 50 years. Qinglong Group is committed to making our GRC products last as long as the building's main structure by building a full life-cycle assurance system of "durable material systems, redundant safety design, long-lasting protective treatment, and scientific maintenance guidance."

The core factor determining service life is the inherent durability of the material. The deterioration of GRC mainly stems from: 1) carbonation of the cement paste; 2) penetration of aggressive environmental media (such as chloride ions and sulfates); 3) physical damage from wet-dry and freeze-thaw cycles; and 4) the long-term stability of glass fibers in alkaline environments. Qinglong GRC greatly delays these deterioration processes by using low-alkali cement, high-zirconia alkali-resistant fibers, and a highly dense matrix with a low water-cement ratio, along with formulation-level optimizations. The carbonation resistance and chloride ion penetration resistance of our products far exceed those of ordinary concrete.

Surface protective treatment is a key barrier to extending service life. Depending on the climate at the project location (such as coastal, acid rain, or severe cold regions), Qinglong provides targeted surface treatment solutions, such as penetrating water repellents, or acrylic or fluorocarbon protective coatings. High-quality fluorocarbon coatings offer excellent UV resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and self-cleaning performance. They effectively block harmful external substances, protect the GRC substrate, and maintain lasting color, which can significantly extend maintenance intervals.

It should be made clear that service life is a "design goal" whose realization requires assurance across the entire chain. Qinglong not only provides quality products, but also avoids stress concentration through design, ensures correct installation through guidance, and provides maintenance recommendations. Regular inspection and necessary maintenance (such as recoating the protective layer after many years) are also essential measures to guarantee the expected service life.
