How to Judge GRC Product Quality?

Judging the quality of GRC products requires a comprehensive assessment combining “objective test data, microscopic observation, and macroscopic experience.” Qinglong Group recommends following the four-step method of “report review, on-site inspection, sample testing, and long-term evaluation” to assess product quality from the surface inward and from individual points to the whole.

The first and most critical step is to verify authoritative third-party test reports. Ask the manufacturer to provide type inspection reports issued by a nationally accredited (CMA/CNAS) testing institution. The report should cover core performance indicators such as: flexural strength (high-quality GRC is typically ≥18MPa), impact resistance, water absorption (the lower the better), and durability (e.g., freeze-thaw resistance). The second step is to closely examine the actual products. View finished products or samples at the manufacturer’s showroom or on construction sites, paying attention to: 1) Surface condition: whether it is dense and uniform, free of obvious pores, cracks, or exposed fibers. 2) Edge and corner quality: whether the edges are sharp, straight, and free of defects. 3) Cross-section structure: knock off a corner piece (or observe the cross-section) to check whether fibers are evenly distributed and whether there is any separation between the cement paste and fibers. 4) Dimensional accuracy: measure panel dimensions, thickness, and flatness to verify compliance with tolerance requirements.

The third step is to perform simple on-site tests. For example, splash water to observe its water repellency (whether droplets show a lotus-leaf effect); lightly scratch the surface with a hard object to gauge its hardness; for colored products, check against backlight whether the color is even. The fourth step is to examine the long-term performance of completed projects—the most compelling proof. Visit projects that have been in use for 3, 5, or even more years and look for weathering, efflorescence, staining, cracking, or other issues.
