The precise positioning of embedded parts (such as nuts and bolts) within double-curved GRC panels is the foundation for ensuring reliable connection with the main structure, and is also one of the decisive factors for installation accuracy. Since double-curved panels are spatial curved surfaces, the positioning of embedded parts must consider three key elements: "three-dimensional coordinates, normal direction, and conformity to the curved surface." Qinglong Group ensures that the positional error of embedded parts is controlled within ±2mm through a trinity control system of "digital positioning, mold integration, and process verification."
Precise digital positioning based on the BIM model is the primary step. During the detailed design phase, Qinglong's technical staff define the precise spatial coordinates and orientation of the embedded parts for each double-curved panel in the 3D model. The key point is that the installation plane of an embedded part must be perpendicular to the normal direction of the panel's outer surface at that location to ensure rational force distribution. The model exports detailed data such as the three-dimensional coordinates (X, Y, Z) and direction cosines (i, j, k) of all embedded parts on each panel, which serve as the basis for production and inspection.
Precise positioning fixtures on the mold provide the hardware guarantee for accurate positioning. When fabricating double-curved molds, Qinglong precisely machines positioning grooves or installation datum holes for the embedded parts on the back of the mold (the non-decorative surface) based on BIM data. During production, the embedded parts are precisely fixed onto these positioning grooves or datum holes using dedicated fixtures before the GRC slurry is sprayed or poured. This approach converts the spatial positioning problem of embedded parts into a two-dimensional positioning problem on the mold, greatly improving precision and operability. For particularly critical embedded parts, even more precise fixing methods such as magnetic mounting may be employed.
Multiple verifications during the production process ensure quality. After the embedded parts are installed but before the GRC slurry covers them, quality inspectors use a 3D scanner or total station to quickly scan the exposed embedded parts, comparing the point cloud data with the design model for the first verification. After the components are demolded, a final measurement is taken on the embedded parts of the finished products; the data is entered into the management system and shipped with the components as the reference for on-site installation. This rigorous process ensures that every double-curved GRC panel can find its unique and correct position within the massive curtain wall system.
