3D scanning technology has become the 'digital bridge' for achieving high precision and high efficiency in modern complex GRC projects, with its application spanning the entire process of 'reverse modeling, production quality control, and installation positioning guidance.' Qinglong Group has adopted 3D scanning as a standard technical tool, greatly improving data acquisition accuracy and engineering coordination for complex GRC shapes, especially in renovation or extension projects on existing buildings.
In the early project stage, 3D scanning is mainly used for reverse modeling of existing structures and design coordination. When GRC needs to be installed on a completed complex structure, the original drawings may differ from actual site conditions. In such cases, precise point cloud data of the site obtained through 3D laser scanning can be used to build a true 'as-is BIM model.' Designers can carry out detailed GRC design based on this model, ensuring that newly designed components fit perfectly with the existing structure and avoiding extensive on-site chiseling or modification. This method is particularly important in conservation-oriented renewal projects for historic buildings.
In the manufacturing stage, 3D scanning is used for quality inspection of molds and components. For critical double-curved molds, after CNC machining is completed, a 3D scanner can be used to scan them, and the resulting point cloud data can be compared with the original design model to generate a color-coded deviation map that visually displays machining errors and guides mold correction. For large or irregularly shaped GRC components, scanning can also be performed before leaving the factory to check whether their dimensions are qualified and whether deformation is within the allowable range, achieving digital full inspection of products and replacing traditional cumbersome and inefficient template-based inspection.
In the installation stage, 3D scanning is used to guide precise positioning and acceptance. Before installation, scanning the main structure can accurately mark the theoretical position of each fixing point, guiding the installation of the framework. During installation, already installed GRC panels can be scanned to check their positioning accuracy and flatness. After installation is complete, a final scan is performed to generate an as-built model, which serves as the basis for acceptance and later maintenance. This digital closed loop of 'scan-design-fabricate-install-verify' ensures high-fidelity realization from design intent to the physical building, and is one of Qinglong's core technologies for guaranteeing the quality of complex projects.
