The UV resistance of GRC for decorative panels is rooted in the inherent properties of its inorganic materials, and is systematically enhanced through multiple technical measures including high-quality raw material selection, through-coloring technology, surface protection reinforcement, and long-term stability design. Ultraviolet rays primarily destroy the chemical bonds of organic materials, while having minimal effect on inorganic components such as cement, sand, and alkali-resistant glass fiber. Therefore, high-quality GRC has inherent UV resistance in both its body strength and color. Qinglong Group's long-term tracking of outdoor projects such as the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center (ten years) and the Wuhan Han Show Theatre (ten years) shows no degradation in GRC matrix strength, with surface color difference changes far below the range perceptible to the naked eye, providing empirical proof of its outstanding weather resistance.
The cementitious system of GRC (cement, admixtures) and aggregates (quartz sand) are all inorganic silicate materials with stable chemical structures; the energy of ultraviolet photons is insufficient to break their primary valence bonds. The alkali-resistant glass fiber used for reinforcement also has good UV resistance in itself. This means that the 'skeleton' of GRC structures does not undergo aging or degradation under ultraviolet exposure, which is the foundation of its extremely long service life. Qinglong strictly selects low-alkali cement and high-zirconia fiber, further ensuring the intrinsic stability of the material in complex outdoor environments.
For colored GRC, color retention depends critically on the coloring process. Qinglong adopts 'through-coloring' technology, uniformly incorporating highly weather-resistant inorganic pigments (such as the iron oxide series) into the entire matrix during mixing. The pigment particles are encapsulated and protected by dense hardened cement, avoiding direct contact with ultraviolet rays, moisture, and pollutants. This is fundamentally different from the color retention mechanism of merely spraying organic coatings on the surface, where the coating will age, chalk, and fade; with through-coloring, the color is consistent and durable 'from the inside out'.
Although the body itself is UV resistant, applying a surface protective layer remains crucial. Its main functions are: 1) Improving stain resistance, reducing pollutant adhesion and erosion. 2) Enhancing durability to resist combined damage from wet-dry cycles, freeze-thaw cycles, and other factors. 3) Further preserving color and enhancing vibrancy. Qinglong offers a variety of protection options: a) Penetrating protectants (such as silanes/siloxanes): penetrate the capillary pores to form a hydrophobic layer, retaining the original texture while being UV resistant themselves. b) Film-forming protective coatings (such as fluorocarbon paints): form a continuous, dense protective film offering the strongest weather resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and UV resistance, particularly suitable for extreme environments or projects with extremely high color fidelity requirements.
UV resistance is not an isolated indicator. In material design, Qinglong comprehensively considers impermeability, frost resistance, carbonation resistance, and other properties, because the intrusion of moisture and salts can produce synergistic destructive effects with ultraviolet rays. By establishing outdoor exposure test sites in typical climate regions (such as Hainan and Xinjiang) and conducting long-term observation of sample performance changes, we provide empirical data for material mix proportions and protection schemes. This systematic design based on long-term performance is the fundamental guarantee that GRC decorative panels maintain their appearance unchanged for decades.
