Embedded socket anchors are key components in GRC curtain wall systems for achieving concealed connections and ensuring installation flatness and precision. Their installation quality directly affects the safety and long-term reliability of the curtain wall. Qinglong Group applies a strict set of technical standards for embedded socket anchor installation: "precise positioning, reliable anchoring, adequate protection, and traceable records." In the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC One super high-rise curtain wall project, the precise embedding of over ten thousand socket anchors provided a solid foundation for fast and accurate installation.
The planar position, elevation, and verticality deviations of socket anchors within GRC panels must be strictly controlled. Typical requirements are: center position deviation ≤2mm, elevation deviation ≤1mm, and verticality deviation ≤1°. Qinglong ensures socket anchor positions through positioning pins integrated into high-precision molds. During mold fabrication, positioning holes are determined by CNC machining. In production, the socket anchor is placed onto the positioning pin for fixation, and then GRC slurry is cast. After demolding, the first batch of components must be spot-checked with a total station to verify socket anchor positions.
The anchoring of socket anchors must be secure. The anchoring depth (i.e., the distance from the bottom of the socket anchor to the back of the GRC panel) must be determined by pull-out force calculations, typically no less than 40mm. At the same time, there must be a sufficiently thick concrete cover between the top of the socket anchor and the front face of the GRC panel to prevent surface corrosion and ensure fire resistance, generally no less than 15mm. Special clamps must be used during installation to ensure that socket anchors do not shift or float during casting and vibration.
Socket anchors must be made of austenitic stainless steel; 316 or 316L stainless steel should be selected for coastal or highly corrosive environments. Socket anchor surfaces must be clean and free of oil stains and rust. In the alkaline environment of GRC, carbon steel or galvanized steel socket anchors are strictly prohibited. Qinglong reviews material certification documents and conducts sampling tests on all incoming socket anchors to ensure material compliance.
After embedding, socket anchor threads must be protected during curing, transportation, and stacking to prevent impact damage or contamination by cement slurry. Typically, plastic protective caps are used, or grease is applied before fitting a protective cap. The socket anchor installation data for each GRC panel (including model, position, and production batch) must be entered into the management system and bound to the component number, enabling quality traceability throughout the entire life cycle. Only when all of the above requirements are met can the embedded socket anchor system fulfill its intended role of safe connection.
