Can UHPC Curtain Wall Panels Achieve Class A Fire Rating?

The fire performance of UHPC curtain wall panels is a key indicator for their use as building envelope materials. According to the GB8624 standard "Classification of Burning Behavior of Building Materials and Products", high-quality UHPC can meet the requirements of Class A non-combustible materials, which is determined by its inorganic nature. Qinglong Group's products have been tested by the National Quality Supervision and Inspection Center of Fireproof Building Materials, achieving A1-class combustion performance, and have been successfully applied in important public buildings such as the Wuhan Hanxiu Theater. This outstanding fire performance makes UHPC an ideal choice for high-end buildings.

The fire resistance of UHPC derives from its inorganic cementitious system and dense microstructure. At high temperatures, UHPC does not release toxic smoke, and its low thermal conductivity effectively blocks heat transfer. Under the standard fire curve, the temperature rise on the unexposed side of Qinglong's UHPC panels does not exceed 140°C at the 1-hour fire resistance limit, fully meeting fire separation requirements. In the Yangshengtang Pharmaceutical Hangzhou Industrial Park project, we used 30mm-thick UHPC panels as fire walls, achieving a fire resistance limit of over 2 hours.

Fire design requires systematic consideration, including panel joint treatment and the sealing of penetration points. Qinglong's fire sealing system uses ceramic fiber fireproof sealant, which expands at high temperatures to form a dense thermal insulation layer, effectively blocking the paths of fire spread. Fire barriers are installed in all cavity areas to prevent the chimney effect from intensifying fire spread. In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project, we optimized the fire protection construction through BIM technology to ensure that every detail complies with fire code requirements.

Fire protection of connectors is equally important. Qinglong uses fireproof coatings or fire encasement systems to protect metal connectors, ensuring that they do not fail prematurely in a fire. Embedded parts are positioned away from high-temperature areas, and thermal insulation gaskets are used where necessary to reduce thermal bridging. The entire curtain wall system is designed with integrated fire protection to ensure the overall structural stability in the event of a fire.
