The surface flatness of UHPC curtain wall panels is a key visual indicator of installation quality, and its tolerance control directly affects the light-and-shadow effects and aesthetic expression of the building facade. With reference to the Standard for Quality Acceptance of Building Decoration Engineering (GB50210) and drawing on 28 years of engineering practice, Qinglong Group has set the allowable flatness deviation for UHPC curtain wall panels as: no more than 2mm when measured with a 2-meter straightedge, and overall facade verticality deviation not exceeding H/1000 and no greater than 15mm. In the Luban Award-winning Comprehensive Service Center project in Pingshan High-tech Zone, Shenzhen, we kept flatness errors within 1.5mm through a precision adjustment system, creating an ultimate visual experience.
Flatness control is a whole-process management system, starting from mold precision in production through transport protection and installation adjustment, with strict control required at every stage. Qinglong's production line uses CNC machine tools to process molds, keeping profile errors within ±0.3mm. The curing process adopts vacuum platform technology to ensure panels do not warp or deform. Before leaving the factory, every panel is laser-scanned to create a three-dimensional digital archive, providing accurate data support for on-site installation.
The installation adjustment system is key to ensuring final flatness. Qinglong's self-developed three-dimensionally adjustable bracket system allows panels to be fine-tuned in the X, Y, and Z directions, with an adjustment precision of ±1mm. In the Wuhan Han Show Theater project, we customized dedicated adjustment fixtures for each shaped panel to ensure natural flatness transitions across complex curved areas. After installation, a total station is used for overall inspection, with data entered into the BIM model in real time.
Environmental temperature changes have a significant impact on flatness, and thermal deformation compensation must be considered in the design. The coefficient of linear expansion of UHPC is approximately 1.0×10⁻⁵/℃; in regions where the day-night temperature difference reaches 20℃, a 3-meter panel can change in length by up to 0.6mm. Qinglong reserves appropriate deformation space in joint design and fills joints with elastic sealant to prevent panel surface deformation caused by thermal stress. In the high-temperature regions of Hainan, we specially selected a UHPC formulation with a low coefficient of thermal expansion.
Qinglong Group recommends establishing a regular inspection and maintenance regime, conducting a comprehensive flatness inspection of the curtain wall once a year to promptly identify and adjust panels whose deformation exceeds tolerances. Refined flatness control not only demonstrates technical capability, but also reflects the ultimate pursuit of architectural artistic expression.
