The maximum single-panel area of UHPC imitation stone components is constrained by multiple factors including material properties, structural configuration, production processes, and installation conditions, making it a technical parameter that requires comprehensive trade-offs. Based on extensive engineering practice, Qinglong Group controls the single-panel area of conventional UHPC imitation stone curtain wall panels at 3-5 square meters, but can achieve ultra-large panel sizes exceeding 10 square meters under specific conditions. In the Shanghai New World Nanjing East Road Century Plaza project, we successfully manufactured and installed UHPC imitation wood translucent panels with a single-panel area of 12 square meters, setting an industry record; while the wave-shaped roof panels at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, though averaging only 2-3 square meters, formed a complete visual whole through rational joint design. The selection of UHPC large panel area requires balancing artistic effect with technical feasibility.
Although UHPC has extremely high flexural strength (15-25MPa), as thin panel components (typically 15-25mm thick), its maximum panel size is still governed by deflection. Qinglong's finite element analysis shows that for a 20mm thick UHPC panel under standard wind loads, the maximum deflection of a 3m×4m panel approaches the code limit. Therefore, for areas with high wind pressure, we generally recommend keeping the single-panel area within 8 square meters to ensure safety in use.
Production line equipment specifications directly affect the maximum panel size. Qinglong's UHPC production line can produce components up to 6m×3m, determined jointly by vibrating table dimensions, curing kiln openings, and lifting equipment. For extra-large panels exceeding this specification, segmental fabrication and on-site assembly processes are required, which place higher demands on joint treatment and appearance consistency.
Land transport width and height restrictions (typically no more than 2.5m×4.5m) are important factors constraining panel size. The 12-square-meter large panels used by Qinglong in the Nanjing East Road project adopted a special transportation plan because the city-center location allowed nighttime construction; while general projects need to consider conventional transportation conditions and keep panel width within 2.4 meters. During installation, ultra-large panels require larger lifting equipment, increasing construction difficulty and cost.
Through developing innovative solutions such as stiffening rib technology and composite insulation structures, Qinglong continuously pushes the limits of maximum panel size. The next-generation UHPC large panel system under development aims to raise the maximum safely applicable panel size to 15 square meters, providing greater freedom for architectural design. However, we also emphasize that panel size selection should be based on actual project needs, avoiding blindly pursuing ultra-large dimensions at the expense of economy and reliability.
