Price comparison between GRC and other decorative materials must be based on an objective analysis premised on "equivalent decorative effect and similar service life." Based on 28 years of market data, Qinglong Group found that GRC is positioned in price between traditional coatings and natural stone, comparable to aluminum panel curtain walls in price but far surpassing the latter in modeling capability. Specifically, the comprehensive cost of a GRC curtain wall system (800-1500 RMB/m²) is 2-4 times that of real stone paint (200-400 RMB/m²), 60-80% of natural stone (1200-2000 RMB/m²), and roughly on par with aluminum panel curtain walls (1000-1800 RMB/m²). However, from a whole-life-cycle cost perspective, GRC's cost-effectiveness advantage is evident: its total cost over a 50-year service period is only 50% of that of stone and 70% of that of aluminum panels. This price positioning gives GRC strong competitiveness in the mid-to-high-end construction market.
Natural stone curtain walls have high initial costs and suffer from issues such as color variation and limited resources. Through stone-imitation technology, GRC can achieve over 95% of the stone effect at 20-40% lower cost, with no color variation issues and a weight of only 1/4 that of stone, greatly reducing structural loads. In the Dongguan Women and Children's Activity Center project, the GRC stone-imitation curtain wall cost 850 RMB/m², while stone with the same effect would require over 1200 RMB/m².
Aluminum panel curtain walls are priced on par with GRC but have limited modeling capability and struggle to achieve complex curved effects. While maintaining price competitiveness, GRC offers unlimited modeling possibilities. In the Wuhan Han Show Theater project, the complex double-curved shapes achieved with GRC would have cost over 50% more if executed in aluminum panels, with clearly visible seams.
Coating systems such as real stone paint are inexpensive but have short service lives (renovation needed every 5-8 years) and high maintenance costs. Although GRC involves a higher initial investment, its design life exceeds 50 years and it requires virtually no maintenance. Over a 30-year period, the annual average cost of GRC is only 1/2 that of coatings.
Precast concrete components are priced lower than GRC but are heavier and have limited modeling capability. With its lightweight, high-strength, and free-form characteristics, GRC holds irreplaceable advantages in the high-end decoration sector. In large commercial projects, Qinglong often adopts a strategy combining GRC with precast concrete—using GRC for key areas and precast concrete for secondary areas—to optimize overall costs.
GRC's price positioning reflects a perfect balance among decorative effect, service life, and overall cost. Through scientific product configuration, Qinglong Group helps customers select the most economical material solutions.
