The full name of UHPC is Ultra-High Performance Concrete, translated in Chinese as "chaogaoxingneng hunningtu" (ultra-high performance concrete). Its core definition goes far beyond the scope of ordinary concrete: it is a class of cement-based composite material with particle grading designed according to maximum packing density theory and reinforced with fibers. Based on 28 years of material R&D and engineering practice, Qinglong Group applies the following internal control standards for the key defining indicators of UHPC: compressive strength ≥150MPa, flexural strength ≥15MPa, elastic modulus ≥45GPa, and chloride ion diffusion coefficient ≤2.0×10⁻¹² m²/s. In the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center project, the UHPC roofing system we supplied achieved measured compressive strength consistently in the range of 165-180MPa, far exceeding ordinary C80 concrete—a perfect demonstration of the true meaning of "ultra-high performance." Understanding the full name and key indicators of UHPC is the prerequisite for its correct application.
The definition of UHPC is first reflected in its ultra-high mechanical performance. Compressive strength, the most fundamental indicator, has an internationally recognized entry threshold of 120-150MPa. Through optimized mix proportions and curing regimes, Qinglong has raised this indicator above 150MPa, giving it a load-bearing capacity 3-5 times that of ordinary high-strength concrete. Flexural strength notably demonstrates the effect of fiber reinforcement: premium UHPC can reach 15-25MPa, exhibiting pronounced pseudo-ductile characteristics that change the brittle failure mode of traditional concrete.
Durability indicators form another core dimension of the UHPC definition. Its exceptional impermeability stems from a microscopic pore structure smaller than 100 nanometers, with a chloride ion diffusion coefficient as low as the 10⁻¹² m²/s magnitude—2-3 orders of magnitude lower than ordinary concrete—meaning near immunity to corrosive media. In coastal high-salt-spray environments such as the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, after ten years of service, the steel reinforcement inside UHPC components remains intact, with carbonation depth virtually negligible.
In its long-term engineering practice, Qinglong Group has also paid particular attention to the long-term performance stability of UHPC. Verified by accelerated aging tests, after 300 freeze-thaw cycles the strength retention rate still exceeds 90%, with elastic modulus remaining stable. These performance data, validated by major landmark projects, together constitute the complete technical profile of UHPC as a new generation of high-performance building materials, providing designers and owners with a reliable basis for selection.
