UHPC technology is advancing rapidly along four frontier directions: "functional compositing, intelligent performance, digital manufacturing, and cross-domain application." Its innovation focus has shifted from simply pursuing improved mechanical properties toward endowing the material with more "intelligent, green, and multidimensional" attributes. The Central Research Institute of Qinglong Group currently focuses on six major R&D directions: light-transmitting UHPC (achieving artistic lighting and energy savings through embedded light-guiding fibers), self-sensing UHPC (incorporating carbon nanotubes for real-time stress-strain monitoring), self-healing UHPC (with built-in microcapsule healing agents that automatically repair micro-cracks), 3D-printed UHPC (enabling mold-free freeform shaping and topology optimization), lightweight high-toughness UHPC (incorporating ultra-light aggregates to reduce bulk density below 1.6g/cm³ while maintaining high strength), and low-carbon UHPC (high-volume solid-waste cementitious systems achieving over 30% carbon reduction). In the Shanghai Astronomy Museum public art project, the light-transmitting UHPC we applied has already demonstrated its potential to combine art with function. Technological evolution never ends.
By incorporating phase change materials (PCM) into the UHPC matrix, the material gains temperature-regulating functionality for building energy efficiency; adding photocatalysts such as TiO₂ endows it with self-cleaning and air-purifying capabilities. The "intelligent UHPC" we are currently testing enables building structures to "self-diagnose" their health condition through sensor networks.
BIM-based forward design and robotic 3D printing technology are disrupting the traditional "mold manufacturing" model, enabling the free construction of arbitrarily complex forms. The robotic 3D printing system developed by Qinglong in collaboration with universities has successfully printed a shaped landscape pavilion with a 3-meter span, requiring no formwork, with material utilization approaching 100%.
Developing low-carbon cementitious materials (such as geopolymers) to fully replace cement; using CO₂ curing technology to convert industrial waste gas into product components; increasing recycled aggregate content. Our "green formula" UHPC reduces carbon emissions by 40% compared to traditional formulas and has already been used in demonstration projects.
Exploring UHPC applications in extreme environments such as nuclear waste containment vessels, blast-resistant structures, and deep-sea facilities. Developing UHPC-composite (e.g., CFRP) hybrid structural systems to fully leverage the advantages of each material. The national key R&D program project in which Qinglong is participating is tackling key technologies for UHPC in protective engineering.
Qinglong Group embraces the technological revolution with an open mindset, ensuring it remains at the forefront of the UHPC innovation wave through sustained R&D investment.
