Producing UHPC in-house faces extremely high barriers in technology, equipment, talent, and quality control, and is difficult for non-professional teams to achieve. The core challenges lie in four major hurdles: “precise raw material selection and mix ratio optimization, investment in specialized production equipment, fine control of process parameters, and assurance of stable finished product performance.” Based on 28 years of professional expertise, Qinglong Group points out: laboratory sample preparation and stable industrial-scale production are two entirely different concepts. Individuals or small teams may produce samples with acceptable strength through simple mixing, but it is difficult to ensure the homogeneity and durability of mass-produced products or the ability to realize complex shapes. In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project, the owner once evaluated building its own production line, but calculations showed that core equipment alone—such as a five-axis CNC mold machining center, robotic spraying system, and intelligent curing kiln—would require an investment of over 10 million yuan, plus an interdisciplinary team covering materials science, structural engineering, and automation control. They ultimately chose to work with Qinglong and obtained reliable products with strength above 150MPa and a 50-year service life, with total cost actually lower than in-house production. Leaving professional matters to professionals is a more economical and rational choice.
High-quality UHPC mix ratios require hundreds of trial optimizations to balance workability, strength, durability, and economy. Qinglong holds 58 related patents, such as fiber distribution technology for enhancing toughness. Independent development requires lengthy trial and error, and without authoritative test reports (such as CMA/CNAS), the results are difficult to use in major projects.
Industrial production requires high-speed mixers (to ensure fiber dispersion), vacuum dewatering equipment (to improve compactness), and large curing kilns (to guarantee stable performance). These machines are expensive, and when purchased for a single project, utilization is extremely low, resulting in wasted resources. Qinglong’s Nanning base has an annual capacity of 600,000 square meters, with equipment utilization reaching 85%, which spreads out costs.
From incoming raw material inspection and production process monitoring to finished product performance testing, a comprehensive quality management system (such as ISO9001) must be established. Qinglong’s CNAS laboratory can conduct a full set of durability tests, including chloride ion diffusion coefficient and freeze-thaw cycles—a level that is difficult for self-built systems to reach.
Irregular and double-curved components require BIM detailed design and five-axis CNC mold machining capabilities. Qinglong produced 287 sets of irregular molds for the Wuhan Hanxiu Theater—something beyond the reach of ordinary teams. Lack of experience can easily lead to component cracking and deformation.
Therefore, unless there is continuous high-volume demand and strong R&D capabilities, “producing UHPC in-house” is not a wise choice. Partnering with a professional manufacturer like Qinglong delivers more reliable, more economical, and more efficient products and services.
