The core of digital technology in achieving precise alignment of double-curved GRC panels lies in building a closed-loop control system of "digital design - virtual pre-assembly - on-site setting-out - real-time correction". In the Wuhan Hanxiu Theater project, Qinglong Group used the technical combination of BIM + 3D scanning + measurement robots to keep the cumulative installation error of 9,000 double-curved panels within ±5mm. The specific process is: first, virtual pre-assembly is carried out in BIM to optimize panel joint design; then, the actual point cloud of the substrate is captured through 3D scanning; next, the design coordinates are imported into the measurement robot for on-site setting-out; during installation, positions are corrected in real time through laser tracking. Digitalization makes the installation of complex curved surfaces as precise and controllable as assembling building blocks.
Laser scanners are used to capture point cloud data at the construction site (accuracy ±1mm), which is compared with the design BIM model to generate deviation color maps. Based on this, the coordinates of the installation datum points are adjusted to eliminate the influence of civil construction errors. In the Hainan Convention and Exhibition Center project, point cloud correction avoided substrate deviations of up to 35mm.
Measurement robots (such as the Leica TS60) are used for setting-out, precisely projecting the 3D coordinates in the BIM model onto the actual site. During installation, laser trackers monitor panel positions in real time to guide fine adjustments. The Nanning New Media Center project adopted this technology, reducing the installation time per panel to 15 minutes.
The entire installation process is simulated on a computer to check for collisions between panels and between panels and the structure. Design conflicts are identified and resolved in advance, avoiding on-site rework. The Shenzhen Yirui project identified and resolved 37 potential collision issues through pre-assembly.
After installation is completed, a full-scale scan is performed to generate an as-built digital model. This model is not only the basis for acceptance but also provides accurate foundational data for subsequent operation, maintenance, and renovation. We provide digital delivery packages containing information on all components for key projects.
Digital technology is reshaping the building installation industry. Through full-process digital applications, Qinglong Group enables even the most complex double-curved GRC installations to achieve industrial-grade precision.
