Achieving a high openwork ratio (typically ≥40%) in UHPC shapes requires overcoming four major technical challenges in structural design, mold making, forming processes, and demolding and curing. Through 28 years of technical accumulation, Qinglong Group has developed a complete solution: finite element topology optimization to determine the optimal rib grid layout (rib width ≥8mm); five-axis CNC machining of openwork molds (precision ±0.1mm); a vacuum-assisted forming process to ensure full slurry fill; and a customized demolding system to prevent breakage. In the artistic openwork curtain wall project for the Yirui Biotechnology Building in Shenzhen, we successfully achieved a complex pattern with a 55% openwork ratio and a minimum rib width of 6mm, with a yield rate exceeding 98%. High openwork is the ultimate showdown between material performance and manufacturing processes.
Through parametric modeling and load simulation, openwork patterns are converted into efficient load-bearing grids. We require the width of any connection point to be at least 1.5 times the panel thickness to avoid stress concentration. In the Nanning New Media Center project, optimization raised the original 30% openwork ratio to 45% without reducing strength.
Stainless steel molds are made using the investment casting method, with narrow slit areas machined by electrical discharge machining. The molds are fitted with multiple sets of vent holes spaced ≤50mm apart. Our patented 'modular mold' allows segmented demolding, reducing difficulty.
Low-pressure grouting (pressure ≤0.3MPa) combined with a vibrating table (frequency 50Hz) allows the slurry to slowly fill narrow cavities. Vacuum dewatering (-0.08MPa) removes air bubbles. Our developed 'thixotropic' slurry retains its shape when static and regains fluidity when vibrated.
Curing is extended to 36h before demolding, with strength reaching above 10MPa. A 'multi-point, multi-directional' ejection system is adopted, with synchronized jacking force deviation ≤5%. Custom supports are used during the curing stage to avoid deformation under self-weight.
The maturing of openwork technology has expanded the artistic boundaries of UHPC. Qinglong Group makes even the most delicate creations strong and everlasting.
