What Are the Transport Securing Methods for Large-Size GRC Panels? Damage-Free Logistics and Qinglong Group's Professional Transport System

The securing of large-size GRC panels (typically those with one side length exceeding 2.5m or an area greater than 4㎡) during transport is a core step in ensuring their safe arrival on site, requiring a systematic solution of "dedicated transport racks, flexible securing, stress dispersion, and whole-journey monitoring". Qinglong Group has developed a series of transport tooling for different panel types: flat panels are transported vertically on A-frame steel racks; double-curved panels use curved supports matched to the panel geometry; rubber or EVA liners are added at all securing points; and transport vehicles are fitted with GPS and vibration recorders. In the 120,000㎡ roofing project of the Hainan Convention and Exhibition Center, our customized transport solution safely delivered double-curved panels as large as 6m×2.5m to the site, with the breakage rate kept below 0.1%. Vertical Transport Is the Preferred Solution

Compared with horizontal placement, vertical transport significantly reduces interlayer pressure, prevents flexural deformation of the panel surface, and facilitates loading and unloading. Our A-frame steel racks are designed and manufactured with an inclination angle of 10-15 degrees, and panels are secured to the rack with nylon straps (width ≥100mm). Flexible corner protectors (thickness ≥30mm) must be fitted where the straps contact the panel corners to prevent stress concentration from cutting the panel edges.

Customized Supports for Irregular Panels

For double-curved and irregular panels, we use "profile-matched supports" for securing. That is, according to the back shape of the panel, a support frame is made of steel or timber so that the panel's weight is evenly distributed over multiple support points of the rack, avoiding unsupported sections. High-density foam or rubber pads are placed between the support and the panel. In the international transport for the Wuhan Han Show Theatre project, this solution ensured the absolute safety of complex artistic components.

Loading Layout and Securing Details

Heavy panels at the bottom, light panels on top; the center of gravity should be close to the middle of the vehicle body. Each panel is separated from the next with soft materials (such as foamed polyethylene) to prevent friction. Torque wrenches must be used for strap securing to ensure uniform tension without damaging the panel surface. The bottom of the transport rack must also be secured to the vehicle floor to prevent sliding.

Information-Based Monitoring and Emergency Preparedness

A vibration recorder is installed for each truckload, with an acceleration alarm threshold set (typically ≤1.5g). Position is tracked in real time via GPS. Emergency response plans are established, with common repair materials and simple tools carried on the vehicle. Drivers receive specialized training and are fully familiar with the characteristics and transport requirements of GRC panels.
