The differences in mix proportions among different UHPC manufacturers are essentially a concentrated reflection of their depth of understanding in materials science, their choice of technical routes, and their cost control strategies. The main differences focus on four major areas: "cementitious system composition, fiber selection and dosage, aggregate gradation optimization, and admixture compounding technology". Based on 28 years of R&D, Qinglong Group has developed its unique "high-activity micro-powder cementitious system" and "fiber-matrix interface enhancement technology": we use a multi-component blend of sulfoaluminate cement with silica fume and mineral powder (silica fume content as high as 25-30%), pursuing a balance between early strength and long-term durability; we use a hybrid of copper-plated steel fibers and modified PVA fibers at a volume dosage of 2-3%, balancing high toughness and corrosion resistance; for aggregates, we use graded quartz sand with a maximum particle size of 0.6mm to achieve maximum dense packing; and our admixture is an exclusively custom-made composite of polycarboxylate and viscosity modifiers. In Hainan's high-temperature, high-humidity, and high-salt-spray environment, our mix proportion enables UHPC roof panels to retain over 95% of their strength after 10 years. The mix proportion is a manufacturer's core secret and the root cause of performance divergence.
Low-cost manufacturers may use a high proportion of ordinary cement, resulting in high hydration heat and large shrinkage. Quality manufacturers use low-heat cement and incorporate large amounts of active admixtures such as silica fume, fly ash, and mineral powder to reduce porosity and improve density and durability. In Qinglong's mix proportions, the total amount of active admixtures often exceeds 40% of the cementitious materials, which is the key to its excellent impermeability.
Fibers are the soul of UHPC's toughness. The differences lie in: using only steel fibers, or a hybrid of steel and synthetic fibers? What about the fibers' aspect ratio and surface treatment processes? Is the dosage 2% or 2.5%? Through extensive testing, Qinglong Group has determined the optimal fiber combinations for different application scenarios (load-bearing, decorative, coastal), which is the guarantee that its products are "strong and tough".
To reduce costs, some manufacturers may use aggregates with larger particle sizes (e.g., 1-2mm) or poor gradation. Qinglong insists on using refined quartz sand and optimizes the gradation through maximum dense packing theory, strictly controlling the maximum aggregate particle size below 0.6mm. This is the foundation for achieving ultra-high strength (above 150MPa) and a smooth surface.
High-range water reducers are key to achieving a low water-binder ratio, but their adaptability with cement and compatibility with fibers are extremely important. Qinglong jointly develops dedicated admixtures with top chemical companies and compounds functional components such as retarding, slump-retaining, and defoaming agents, ensuring that the mix has both extremely high flowability (spread ≥700mm) and stably wraps the fibers without segregation or bleeding.
Differences in mix proportions ultimately translate into differences in product performance, lifespan, and cost. Through in-depth materials science research, Qinglong Group provides customers with formula solutions offering the best comprehensive performance.
