The fire resistance of GRC curtain walls is a key advantage as an exterior building envelope material. Tested by national authoritative institutions, its combustion performance reaches Class A (A1) non-combustible material, meeting the highest standard of GB 8624-2012 'Classification for Burning Behavior of Building Materials and Products', with a fire resistance limit of up to 1-2 hours. All GRC products produced by Qinglong Group have passed testing by the National Quality Supervision and Inspection Center for Fixed Fire Extinguishing Systems and Fire-Resistant Building Components, with official inspection reports obtained. In large public building projects such as the Pingshan High-tech Zone Comprehensive Service Center in Shenzhen, the fire performance of the GRC curtain wall system is an important guarantee for the project passing fire safety acceptance. The main components of GRC—cement, sand, and alkali-resistant glass fiber—are all inorganic non-combustible materials that do not burn and produce no toxic smoke in a fire, winning precious time for occupant evacuation and firefighting rescue.
The cementitious material (cement), aggregate (quartz sand), and reinforcing material (alkali-resistant glass fiber, melting point >1000°C) of GRC will not burn at high temperatures and will not become a pathway for fire spread. This stands in sharp contrast to many organic decorative panels. Qinglong Group strictly selects raw materials to ensure all components are inorganic, guaranteeing fire safety at the source.
As a curtain wall, it must maintain integrity for a certain period during a fire, without collapsing or developing penetrating cracks, to prevent the spread of flames and high-temperature smoke. Through structural calculations and construction design, we ensure GRC panels maintain sufficient structural stability at high temperatures. GRC panels of standard thickness (15-20mm) typically achieve fire integrity of more than 1 hour, which can be extended to 1.5 or even 2 hours by increasing thickness or adding backing materials.
Curtain wall fire protection involves not only the panels, but also inter-story closures, opening edge treatments, and more. We install fire stopping (such as rock wool) at floor levels and smoke barriers in the cavity between GRC panels and the structure, forming a continuous fire separation. All sealants must also be flame-retardant products.
Qinglong Group regularly sends products to institutions such as the National Quality Supervision and Inspection Center for Fire Building Materials for fire resistance limit tests in accordance with the GB/T 9978 standard. We provide customers not only with Class A material test reports, but also with fire protection construction details and calculation documents for typical curtain wall systems, ensuring compliant design and well-founded construction.
Fire safety is of paramount importance. The outstanding fire performance of GRC curtain walls makes them an ideal choice for hospitals, schools, shopping malls, transportation hubs, and other densely occupied places, as well as buildings with special fire protection requirements. With reliable materials and scientific design, Qinglong Group builds the safety line of defense for buildings.
