Performance requirements for GRC vary significantly across climate zones, requiring customized material design tailored to environmental characteristics such as "temperature, humidity, salt spray, and freeze-thaw." Based on its national project database, Qinglong Group has classified climate zones into five categories—"severe cold, cold, hot summer with cold winter, mild, and hot and humid"—and established corresponding performance standards: severe cold regions require a frost resistance rating of ≥ F300, while hot and humid regions require a chloride ion diffusion coefficient of ≤ 1.5×10⁻¹² m²/s. For the Harbin Grand Theatre (severe cold) project, we achieved F350 frost resistance through air entrainment (6% air content) and PP fiber addition; at the Hainan Convention and Exhibition Center (hot and humid), we used low-alkali cement and silica fume, achieving a chloride ion diffusion coefficient of only 0.8×10⁻¹² m²/s. Customization to local conditions is the secret to GRC's longevity.
Freeze-thaw cycles cause matrix spalling. Air-entraining agents should be added (5-8% air content) to lower the water-binder ratio (≤0.36) and improve matrix strength. Qinglong GRC, after 300 freeze-thaw cycles at -30℃, showed a mass loss of < 3%.
High temperature and humidity accelerate Cl⁻ penetration and fiber corrosion. Low-alkali cement (alkali content ≤ 0.6%) should be used, with silica fume (≥25%) added to refine pores. A hydrophobic agent can be applied to the surface to create a lotus effect.
Large daily temperature variations cause materials to expand and contract repeatedly, making them prone to cracking. Expansive agents (e.g., magnesium oxide) should be added to compensate for shrinkage, and fiber content should be appropriately increased to 3-4% to suppress cracks.
Qinglong Group provides a "Climate Adaptability Design Guide" for every project, ensuring GRC performs excellently in any environment.
