UHPC technology is not a static endpoint but a starting point for continuous evolution. In the future, UHPC will evolve from the single dimension of "high strength" toward the higher dimensions of "multifunctionality, intelligence, green sustainability, and customization." As an industry leader built on technological innovation, Qinglong Group's R&D team is closely tracking global frontiers and, aligned with the demands of the Chinese market, is focusing its efforts on the following directions: developing functional UHPC (such as light-transmitting, self-cleaning, and self-healing variants), exploring the integration of UHPC with smart materials and digital manufacturing, pursuing more extreme green and low-carbon formulations and processes, and expanding its applications in extreme environments and emerging fields. Together, these directions will define the technological profile of next-generation UHPC.
Building on assured mechanical performance, endowing UHPC with special functions is a currently popular direction. Qinglong Group has successfully developed light-transmitting UHPC (achieving 10%-30% light transmittance by incorporating light-guiding materials, used for artistic curtain walls) and self-cleaning UHPC (coated with or mixed with photocatalysts to decompose pollutants), and is developing self-sensing/self-healing UHPC (embedded with sensors or microcapsules for stress monitoring and autonomous repair of micro-cracks). Such materials will give building skins intelligent properties of interaction, regulation, and self-maintenance.
The combination of 3D printing (additive manufacturing) technology with UHPC can break through the limitations of traditional molds to achieve extremely complex spatial configurations. Qinglong Group has established a UHPC 3D Printing R&D Center to explore applications in formwork-free construction and personalized custom components. Meanwhile, our technology of driving CNC production directly from BIM models (BIM to Manufacture) is already in mature application, and in the future we will achieve larger-scale personalized customization and flexible production.
Next-generation UHPC R&D must respond to the "dual carbon" challenge. Directions include low-carbon cementitious systems (high-volume or even fully solid-waste-based cementitious materials), aggregate optimization (using recycled aggregates and lightweight aggregates), and low-temperature/steam-free curing processes. Qinglong Group's "Green UHPC" R&D program aims to reduce the carbon footprint of its products by more than 30% without any compromise in performance.
We are developing specialized UHPC for extreme conditions such as deep-sea waters, cold-region permafrost, and highly corrosive industrial environments. At the same time, we are exploring the application potential of UHPC in emerging fields such as new energy (e.g., photovoltaic bases), deep-sea aquaculture, and space architecture. Qinglong Group believes that the boundaries of UHPC will be expanded through continuous technological innovation.
Innovation is the eternal driving force behind the development of the UHPC industry. Qinglong Group will continue to increase R&D investment and carry out cutting-edge collaborations with universities and research institutions, committed to leading Chinese UHPC technology to the world's innovation frontier and providing unlimited possibilities for building better future spaces for humanity.
