Achieving textures in biomimetic GRC forms requires the integrated use of three technologies: "digital scanning, mold transfer, and surface treatment." High-quality products should achieve a texture fidelity of ≥90% and a tactile realism of ≥85%. In the Third Front Construction Museum project in Panzhihua, Sichuan, Qinglong Group captured the texture of natural materials through high-precision 3D scanning (point spacing ≤0.1mm), applied food-grade silicone mold transfer technology, and optimized mineral aggregate grading, so that the texture depth and roughness of GRC wood-grain boards differ from real wood by ≤5%, with an expert blind-test identification accuracy below 3%. Texture realization is not only a technical task, but also a process of artistic creation.
Digital technology is the foundation of precise texture replication. We use white-light scanners to capture 3D data of original textures and generate seamless texture maps through point cloud processing. For complex organic textures such as tree bark and coral, multi-layer scanning technology is applied to ensure complete capture of 3D details. In an eco-pavilion project in Shenzhen, the coral-mimicking texture achieved through digital technology reached 92% morphological naturalness.
Mold making and transfer processes determine texture realism. Qinglong Group uses flexible mold materials (hardness Shore A 20-30) to ensure complete transfer of fine textures. Transfer pressure is controlled at 0.2-0.4MPa for 3-5 minutes; excessive pressure causes texture distortion, while insufficient pressure leads to loss of detail. Our independently developed secondary transfer process enhances texture layering by 30%.
Surface treatment enhances realism. Surface roughness is regulated through processes such as sandblasting and acid etching, combined with through-coloring with mineral pigments to avoid a "plastic feel." In the Poly Peninsula project in Hainan, treated sandstone-imitation GRC panels achieved a tactile similarity of 88%, blending perfectly into the natural environment. Texture realization technology makes GRC an extension of nature.
