The weight differences among UHPC panels of different thicknesses directly follow the physical relationship of "surface density = thickness × bulk density". Qinglong UHPC maintains a stable bulk density of 2.3-2.5g/cm³, so a 10mm-thick panel has a surface density of approximately 23-25kg/m², a 20mm-thick panel approximately 46-50kg/m², and a 30mm-thick panel approximately 69-75kg/m². For the same area, a 20mm-thick UHPC panel weighs only 85% of a 20mm-thick granite panel (surface density approximately 54-60kg/m²), offering a clear advantage in reducing building structural loads. In the curtain wall project of the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building, we used 18mm-thick UHPC panels to replace the originally designed 30mm-thick stone, reducing the overall curtain wall system weight by 40% and significantly lowering the load on the main structure and foundation costs. Precise weight control is not only the basis for transportation and hoisting, but also the foundation for structural safety and economic calculations.
The weight of UHPC is precisely proportional to its thickness. Through strict raw material control and mixing processes, Qinglong Group keeps the bulk density fluctuation of finished products within ±0.05g/cm³. Taking a 15mm-thick standard panel as an example, its surface density is calculated as: 15mm × 2.4g/cm³ = 36kg/m². In the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC project, we provided precise weight data sheets for nearly 30,000 square meters of curtain wall, offering reliable inputs for hoisting plans and structural verification.
The high-strength properties of UHPC allow for thinner sections. For example, when bearing the same load, UHPC panel thickness can be 50-70% thinner than ordinary concrete. This lightweight nature brings chain benefits: reduced transportation costs (fewer overweight transport permits), lower hoisting equipment requirements, improved construction efficiency, and optimized structural sections. In super high-rise buildings, reducing the weight by 10kg per square meter yields considerable savings for the foundation and main structure.
Accurate weight data is the lifeline of construction safety. Qinglong Group provides the measured weight of each (or each batch of) component upon delivery. In the long-span roof hoisting at the Hainan Convention and Exhibition Center, we adjusted the lifting points according to the actual weight of each panel (which varies due to different shapes), ensuring safety. We recommend that designers use the measured bulk density provided by the manufacturer for calculations during product selection, rather than theoretical values.
