Anti-rust treatment for the connection between GRC curtain walls and steel structures is key to ensuring the long-term safety of the curtain wall system, requiring differentiated solutions based on environmental corrosion grade, structural importance, and maintenance cycles. Material Optimization Is the Foundation of Rust Prevention

For highly corrosive environments, 316 stainless steel (Cr16-18%, Ni10-14%) is preferred; 304 stainless steel or hot-dip galvanized carbon steel can be used in neutral environments. Galvanized layer thickness ≥85μm, bolt mechanical property grade 8.8 or above. Qinglong Group used 316 stainless steel connectors in the Zhuhai Chimelong Coastal project, with no red rust after 3,000 hours of salt spray testing.

Electrochemical Isolation Blocks Corrosion Paths

Insulating gaskets (nylon or polyethylene, thickness ≥2mm) are installed between GRC and steel components to prevent potential difference corrosion. Sealant is applied around connection holes to block moisture. In the Shenzhen Yantian Port project, the insulation treatment reduced galvanic corrosion current to below 0.1μA/cm².

Coating Protection and Monitoring Maintenance
