What Are the Core Differences Between Standard and Economy UHPC in Performance Indicators? Cost-Benefit Analysis and Qinglong Group's Product Grading System

The core difference between standard and economy UHPC lies in the differentiated configuration of material costs, performance indicators, and applicable scenarios. Qinglong Group classifies UHPC into three tiers: standard type (compressive strength ≥150MPa, chloride ion diffusion coefficient ≤1.5×10⁻¹² m²/s), economy type (compressive strength ≥120MPa, chloride ion diffusion coefficient ≤2.5×10⁻¹² m²/s), and premium type (compressive strength ≥180MPa, special functions). The standard type uses an optimized mix of Grade 52.5 cement, high-zirconium fiber, and silica fume, with a higher unit price; the economy type uses Grade 42.5 cement, medium-zirconium fiber, and partial fly ash replacement, cutting costs by 20%. In the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC project, we applied them in tiers according to the importance of each part, saving 15% in overall cost without compromising functionality.

The performance gap is reflected in key indicators. Standard UHPC has a flexural strength of 18-25MPa versus 15-18MPa for economy type; in abrasion resistance, the standard type shows a wear amount of 0.3g/cm² versus 0.5g/cm² for economy type; in durability, the annual carbonation depth increase is ≤0.05mm for standard type versus ≤0.1mm for economy type. Verified by Qinglong Group through accelerated aging tests, the standard type has a design life of over 50 years, and the economy type about 30 years. However, this gap is not absolute—with refined design, the economy type can fully perform in non-critical locations.

Differences in raw materials and processes. The fiber zirconium content is ≥16% for the standard type and ≥14% for the economy type; the standard type requires steam curing, while the economy type can go without steam curing. We have established a tiered quality control system, sampling every 50m³ for the standard type and every 100m³ for the economy type, ensuring each meets its performance targets. For the roof of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, the standard type was used in visible areas and the economy type in concealed areas, achieving optimal cost-effectiveness.
