The key to integrated construction of GRC curtain walls and insulation systems lies in the trinity system integration of "structural design, material compatibility, and process coordination", with the core being solving technical challenges such as interface coordination between different materials, thermal bridge interruption, and waterproof sealing. In projects such as the Shenzhen Pingshan High-tech Zone Comprehensive Service Center and Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC, Qinglong Group developed a GRC-insulation composite large panel system, achieving integration of decorative, thermal insulation, and protective functions through innovations in thermal bridge-break connectors, waterproof breathable membranes, and sealing systems, with a heat transfer coefficient (K-value) as low as below 0.30 W/(m²·K) and installation efficiency improved by 40%. This integrated construction avoids the process overlaps and quality risks of traditional sequential operations, and is an important direction for building industrialization.
Structural design is the foundation of success. We adopt a sandwich structure of "GRC facing layer + insulation layer + structural layer", connecting the facing layer to the base layer through glass fiber reinforced plastic connectors penetrating the insulation layer, effectively cutting off thermal bridges. Rock wool (tensile strength perpendicular to the panel surface ≥15kPa) or polyurethane is preferred as the insulation material, with thickness calculated and determined according to energy-saving requirements (typically 80-150mm). In a passive house project in Wuhan, we reduced the thermal bridge influence coefficient to below 0.01 W/(m·K) by optimizing the layout of connector points.
Material compatibility is crucial. The thermal expansion coefficients of the GRC facing layer and insulation layer must be matched, with the difference controlled within 1.5×10⁻⁶/℃. We developed a special adhesive to ensure the bonding strength between GRC and the insulation layer is ≥0.1MPa. The waterproofing system follows the principle of "drainage first, sealing second", with drainage cavities and weep holes to prevent internal condensation.
Integrated construction requires meticulous management. Qinglong Group completes composite panel prefabrication in the factory and hoists them directly on site, reducing process overlaps. We recommend that integrated systems undergo a full set of tests for wind pressure resistance, water tightness, and thermal performance to ensure system reliability.
