The application of BIM technology in GRC engineering projects has evolved from simple 3D modeling into a collaborative working platform and decision-support tool spanning the entire lifecycle of design, detailed design, production, construction, and operation & maintenance. Qinglong Group regards BIM as a core productivity tool, and the depth of its application directly determines the success and efficiency of complex GRC projects, especially doubly-curved and free-form ones. Our full-process BIM application can be summarized in five key stages.
Stage 1: Scheme Design and Buildability Analysis. During the conceptual design stage, the form models provided by architects can undergo rapid buildability analysis through BIM. We use software to analyze the Gaussian curvature and developability of surfaces, providing data support for optimizing panelization and determining the appropriate process (GRC or GRG), thereby avoiding unachievable or prohibitively expensive designs in advance.
Stage 2: Detailed Design and Digital Drawing Output. This is the stage where the value of BIM is most concentrated. Based on the confirmed scheme model, we carry out component decomposition, numbering, embedded part layout, and connection node design. Parametric design tools can automatically generate shop drawings, cutting lists, and bills of materials (BOM) for thousands of unique components, achieving "modify once, update everywhere" with a zero error rate. Meanwhile, cross-disciplinary clash detection resolves conflicts with steel structures, curtain walls, and MEP systems in advance.
Stage 3: Manufacturing and Quality Traceability. The BIM model of components can be directly exported as CNC machining data to drive CNC machines for high-precision mold fabrication. Each component is assigned a unique QR code or RFID tag linked to all of its design, production, and quality inspection information. In the factory, scanning the tag retrieves the 3D model to guide production, and measured data is entered, enabling full-process traceability of product quality.
Stage 4: On-site Construction and Installation Guidance. The BIM model is imported into total stations or tablets for precise 3D spatial setting-out. Through AR (augmented reality) technology, workers can intuitively see the predetermined positions of virtual components in real space. BIM 4D/5D applications enable construction simulation and schedule management.
Stage 5: Completion Handover and Operation & Maintenance Management. The final as-built BIM model (As-built Model) integrates accurate information on all components, becoming the owner's digital asset for future maintenance, inspection, or renovation. BIM technology has brought GRC engineering from traditional craftsmanship into a new stage of digitalization and industrialization.
