When single-curved GRC panels are used on roofs, drainage design must comprehensively consider curvature, joints, and material properties. Through the three-fold measures of "curvature-guided flow, joint waterproofing, and structural drainage," rapid drainage without ponding is achieved. In the single-curved roof project of the Nanning New Media Center, Qinglong Group's precise drainage design kept the roof free of ponding even under heavy rainfall intensity, improving drainage efficiency by 40%.
Curvature design promotes natural drainage. Single-direction curved panels should maintain a minimum drainage slope of 0.5%, achieved by adjusting the radius of curvature. For double-slope roofs, the radius of curvature should be larger at the ridge (promoting flow division) and smaller at the eaves (accelerating drainage). Qinglong Group optimized the curved surface shape through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation to minimize rainwater flow paths. In regions with extreme weather, the slope can be increased to 1-2%.
Joint treatment is the key to waterproofing. Panel joints should be arranged perpendicular to the drainage direction to avoid forming water-blocking ridges. Joint width is 10-15mm, with built-in drainage cavities. Low-modulus silicone sealant is selected to accommodate temperature-induced deformation. Qinglong Group installs aluminum drainage plates beneath the joints to systematically channel out any water that may seep in. Stainless steel flashing plates are installed around all penetrations, providing multiple layers of waterproofing protection.
Refined design of the drainage system. Drainage volume is calculated based on local rainstorm intensity formulas, with rainwater outlets rationally arranged. For large-span curved surfaces, siphonic drainage systems are adopted for high drainage efficiency. Qinglong Group recommends inspecting drainage channels annually, with regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure long-term system effectiveness. Scientific drainage design extends the roof's service life.
