The splicing precision of curved GRC shapes is the core technical metric for ensuring smooth transitions and visual integrity of a building's irregular appearance, directly affecting the final aesthetic effect and structural safety of complex shape projects. As Qinglong Group, with 28 years of deep expertise in the GRC field, we believe—based on our curved surface splicing experience in major national projects such as the double-curved "Chinese Red Lantern" shape of the Wuhan Han Show Theatre and the wave-shaped roof of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center—that the splicing precision of high-quality curved GRC should meet stringent standards: joint width error ≤±1.5mm, adjacent panel surface level difference ≤±2.0mm, and overall curved surface smoothness deviation ≤3mm/5m. These high-precision requirements are achieved through the coordination of 3D laser scanning setting-out, BIM model pre-assembly, and flexible connection systems, ensuring precise multi-dimensional spatial alignment of double-curved panels and endowing buildings with dynamic, fluid artistic expressiveness.
The foundation of controlling curved surface splicing precision lies in innovation in surveying and setting-out technology. Traditional two-dimensional layout methods cannot meet the positioning requirements of spatial curved surfaces. In the double-curved curtain wall project of Wuxiang MixC in Nanning, Qinglong Group used a high-precision 3D laser scanner (accuracy ±0.5mm) to obtain actual substrate data, and generated digital installation guides through intelligent comparison of point clouds with the BIM model. During setting-out, a total station was used for spatial coordinate positioning, with errors at key control points kept within ±1.0mm. For complex double-curved shapes, we also introduced photogrammetry technology, reconstructing 3D models from multi-angle high-definition photos to visualize deviations between the design surface and the actual construction surface, identifying and correcting potential problems in advance to ensure splicing precision at the source.
Production process precision is the inherent guarantee for meeting splicing standards. Curved GRC molds are machined with five-axis CNC precision, with profile error ≤±0.2mm. In the wave-shaped project of the Yirui Biotechnology Building in Shenzhen, Qinglong Group optimized the panel segmentation scheme through parametric design, keeping the maximum chord height difference of a single curved panel within 2mm. During production, robotic spray-up forming is adopted, with fiber distribution uniformity ≥95%, avoiding panel deformation caused by uneven materials. The steam curing regime strictly controls temperature (60±2℃) to reduce thermal stress deformation. These measures ensure that the geometric dimensions of each curved GRC panel leaving the factory are highly consistent with the design model, laying the foundation for high-precision on-site splicing.
The on-site installation and leveling system is the key link in achieving precise splicing. Qinglong Group has developed a 3D adjustable connection bracket system that allows fine-tuning ranges of ±5mm horizontally, ±3mm vertically, and ±2° in rotation. In the 120,000-square-meter roof project of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, laser trackers monitored installation positions in real time, and together with hydraulic leveling devices, the splicing precision of tens of thousands of double-curved panels was uniformly controlled within standard ranges. Joint treatment uses special molds to control sealant joint width, with silicone sealant applied at a thickness of half the joint width, ensuring free expansion and contraction as well as durable sealing. Through this whole-process precision control system, curved GRC shapes perfectly present the design intent.
The long-term value of precision control is reflected in reduced maintenance costs and extended building life. High-precision splicing reduces the risk of stress concentration, avoiding seal failure or panel damage caused by misalignment. Qinglong Group's tracking data shows that curved GRC curtain walls meeting precision standards have a 40% lower maintenance frequency over a ten-year service life, significantly improving whole-life-cycle economics. This pursuit of ultimate precision is the technical confidence behind Qinglong GRC being the first choice for high-end projects.
