Mass UHPC construction requires focused control of three major risks—thermal cracks, shrinkage deformation, and quality uniformity—which are addressed comprehensively through material optimization, curing control, and monitoring methods. In the large-area roofing project of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, Qinglong Group kept the core temperature below 70℃ and the internal-external temperature difference ≤20℃ by adding ice chips for cooling, installing cooling pipes, and applying insulated curing, successfully preventing thermal cracks and providing valuable experience for similar projects.
Temperature control is key. Add ice chips or chilled water to lower the placing temperature, and embed cooling pipes for heat dissipation through circulating water. Qinglong Group uses a temperature monitoring system to track the temperature field in real time and adjust measures promptly. Shrinkage control is equally important: add expansion agents to compensate for shrinkage and install post-cast strips to release stress. Maintain moisture and insulation during curing to prevent surface cracking. These measures ensure the construction quality of mass UHPC.
