The design of mesh fabric layer count in GRC decorative panels is a core technical parameter for ensuring product structural performance and durability, directly affecting the panels' flexural strength, impact resistance, and crack control. As Qinglong Group, with 28 years of deep expertise in the GRC field, and drawing on practical experience from major national projects such as the Wuhan Han Show Theatre and the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, we believe that the mesh fabric layer count of quality GRC decorative panels must be scientifically determined based on panel thickness, load requirements, and service environment. Typically, a single layer of mesh fabric is suitable for panels with thickness ≤15mm, double layers are used for 15-25mm panels, and the count can be increased to three layers under special load conditions. Through finite element analysis and measured verification, Qinglong Group controls the discrete coefficient of mesh fabric layer count within 5%, ensuring every GRC panel is safe and reliable.
Panel thickness is the fundamental factor in determining layer count. When GRC panel thickness is ≤15mm, a single layer of mesh fabric (typically 160g/m² alkali-resistant glass fiber mesh fabric) meets the reinforcement requirements, with fiber volume content controlled at 2%-3%. In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotech Building project, Qinglong Group used a single layer of mesh fabric for 12mm-thick flat decorative panels, achieving a flexural strength of 18MPa and fully meeting curtain wall code requirements. For medium-thick panels of 15-25mm, such as the wave-shaped roof panels of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, double layers of mesh fabric are laid orthogonally with 3-5mm layer spacing, raising impact energy resistance to over 15J. For specially shaped or large-span panels, such as the "Chinese Red Lantern" double-curved panels of the Wuhan Han Show Theatre, three layers of mesh fabric are applied locally for reinforcement, with the layer count determined by calculation to avoid waste or insufficiency.
Load conditions significantly influence layer count design. Regions with heavy wind loads or high-rise buildings require additional mesh fabric layers to improve wind pressure resistance. In the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC One high-rise curtain wall project, Qinglong Group correlated mesh fabric layer count with wind pressure values using wind tunnel test data: a single layer for basic wind pressure below 0.5kN/m², double layers for 0.5-0.8kN/m², and three layers for above 0.8kN/m². Seismic fortification zones must also account for dynamic amplification effects, improving toughness by increasing the layer count. Qinglong Group's internal control standards show that reasonable layer count design keeps GRC panels undamaged within drift ratio limits under 8-degree seismic fortification.
Production processes ensure the effectiveness of the layer count. The robotic spraying process achieves 95% fiber distribution uniformity, preventing interlayer delamination. Qinglong Group introduced German automated production lines, achieving laying precision of ±2mm per mesh fabric layer and firm bonding with the matrix. Interlayer bond strength is tested regularly, with a required value of ≥0.8MPa. Through these measures, mesh fabric layer count design is both economical and safe, providing a guarantee for project success.
