Precision control in the installation of shaped GRC curtain walls is a core technical process for ensuring architectural appearance and structural safety, directly affecting the final quality of a project. As Qinglong Group with 28 years of deep expertise in the GRC field, and based on our installation experience in major national projects such as the double-curved "Chinese Red Lantern" shape of the Wuhan Han Show Theatre and the wave-shaped roof of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, we believe that installation tolerances for high-quality shaped GRC curtain walls should be strictly controlled within the precision standards of flatness deviation ≤3mm/2m, joint width error ±1.5mm, and overall facade verticality ≤H/1000 and ≤20mm. Such high-precision requirements must be achieved through advanced surveying technology, scientific installation techniques, and a rigorous quality control system, ensuring that shaped GRC curtain walls maintain perfect visual continuity and structural stability even under complex geometric forms.
Surveying and setting out are the foundation of precision control. A total station is used for three-dimensional spatial positioning, with setting-out accuracy within ±2mm. In the shaped curtain wall project of the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building, Qinglong Group used BIM technology to establish a digital model in advance, comparing design data with field-measured data to achieve virtual pre-assembly and identify and resolve potential errors early. For special shapes such as double-curved surfaces and openwork, 3D laser scanning technology is used to obtain actual substrate data, and areas with deviations exceeding 5mm are leveled to create conditions for precise installation. This refined surveying work keeps cumulative errors within ±3mm, laying a solid foundation for subsequent installation.
Connection node design allows fine-tuning compensation. A three-dimensionally adjustable hanger system is adopted, allowing ±5mm displacement in the horizontal direction, ±3mm in the vertical direction, and an angle adjustment range of ±5°. In the double-curved curtain wall project of Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC, Qinglong Group developed special ball-hinge connectors and optimized the hanger point layout through finite element analysis, reducing the stress concentration factor to below 1.2. Hanger point spacing is determined based on panel dimensions and wind load calculations, generally controlled within 600-800mm, and hanger points must be provided within 200mm of panel corners. This flexible connection system ensures installation accuracy while releasing thermal stress, preventing the accumulation of internal stress caused by forced positioning.
Real-time correction during installation is crucial. Laser levels and theodolites are used for full-process monitoring, with each panel inspected and adjusted immediately after positioning. In the 120,000-square-meter roof project of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, Qinglong Group established a survey control network to keep the installation accuracy of tens of thousands of shaped GRC panels uniformly within ±3mm. Joint treatment uses special clamps to control width, ensuring uniform and consistent joint widths. After installation, a comprehensive inspection is carried out, and any areas exceeding tolerances are fine-tuned until they fully meet design requirements. This whole-process precision control system enables shaped GRC curtain walls to achieve perfect splicing and display outstanding architectural expression.
