The reasonableness of a GRC product quotation directly affects project quality, safety, and long-term economics. As the Qinglong Group, with 28 years of dedicated experience in the GRC field, we draw on cost management experience from major national projects such as the Wuhan Han Show Theater and the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center to conclude that low-priced GRC quotations often hide multiple risks, including downgraded materials, simplified processes, and reduced services. The market price range for premium GRC is typically RMB 800-1,500 per square meter, while quotations below RMB 600 per square meter may mean cutting corners in key areas. Over long-term use, this price difference shows up as frequent repairs and premature replacement, ultimately increasing whole-life-cycle costs by 30%-50%. Owners need to conduct scientific evaluations to avoid losing big over small savings and to choose the solution that truly offers the best value for money.
Material cost is the first place where quotation differences appear. Premium GRC uses Grade 52.5 white cement, alkali-resistant glass fiber with a zirconia content above 16%, and precisely graded aggregates, with raw material costs accounting for 40%-50% of the finished product price. In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project, Qinglong Group kept material costs within a reasonable range through large-scale procurement and optimized mix proportions. Low-priced products may instead use substitutes such as Grade 42.5 ordinary cement, medium-zirconia fiber, or sea sand. Although these materials cost 20%-30% less initially, they reduce compressive strength from the standard 40-60MPa to 25-35MPa and raise the annual growth rate of carbonation depth from 0.1mm to over 0.5mm, significantly shortening service life. In Hainan's hot and humid environment, inferior GRC develops surface powdering, exposed fibers, and other problems after only 3-5 years of use, with repair costs 3-5 times the initial savings.
Simplified production processes bring quality risks. Premium GRC requires processes such as robotic spray-up, vacuum dewatering, and intelligent curing to ensure product consistency. Qinglong Group introduced a German automated production line with curing kiln temperature differences controlled within ±2°C and a product pass rate of 99.5%. Low-priced manufacturers may use simplified processes such as manual casting and natural curing, with large fluctuations in production temperature and humidity, causing the strength coefficient of variation of products to rise from within 5% to over 15%. In a comparison for the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC One project, GRC panels produced under standardized processes showed flatness deviation of ≤3mm/2m, while simplified-process products deviated by up to ±8mm, making joint treatment difficult and compromising overall aesthetics. This process gap is even more pronounced in projects with complex shapes, where double-curved panels require forming precision of ±2mm—a standard that non-specialized equipment struggles to meet.
Missing services add hidden costs. Full-chain services, including design consultation, installation guidance, and after-sales maintenance, account for 20%-25% of a premium quotation. Qinglong Group assigns a technical team to every project, providing value-added services such as BIM modeling and on-site technical briefings. Low-priced quotations often omit these steps, leading to design conflicts, installation errors, and other problems. In projects located away from the manufacturer, the lack of localized support stretches response time from 24 hours to more than 72 hours, and losses from project delays far exceed the quotation difference. Through comprehensive evaluation, owners can avoid low-price traps and achieve true long-term economy.
