A cost comparison between UHPC facades and natural stone facades requires a comprehensive evaluation across multiple dimensions: initial investment, maintenance costs, and life cycle. Based on 28 years of project data, Qinglong Group concludes that the initial cost of a UHPC facade is typically 20%-30% higher than natural stone, but the total life cycle cost can be 15%-25% lower—an advantage that is particularly evident in large public buildings and high-end projects. Through scientific cost analysis and case validation, we help owners make economically sound material selection decisions.

Initial cost structures differ significantly. Natural stone facades cost approximately 600-1,000 RMB per square meter, while UHPC facades range from 800-1,500 RMB. In the Shenzhen Pingshan High-tech Zone Comprehensive Service Center project, Qinglong Group optimized the UHPC cost to 1,000 RMB per square meter through standardized design and mass production; although higher than the 700 RMB for stone, installation efficiency increased by 40%, indirectly reducing costs. The extraction and transportation costs of natural stone are heavily influenced by resource distribution, leading to noticeable price fluctuations; UHPC is factory-precast, making prices more stable. For shaped components, UHPC's modeling advantages are even more pronounced—the cost of complex stone shapes may double, while UHPC keeps incremental costs limited through mold reuse.

Maintenance costs are an area where UHPC excels. Natural stone requires regular protective treatment every 5-8 years, at a cost of about 5% of the construction cost; UHPC has strong weather resistance, with a maintenance cycle of 10-15 years and costs of only 2%-3%. Tracking data from Qinglong Group's Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center project shows that UHPC required no maintenance after 5 years of use, while the stone had already undergone its first protective treatment. In terms of durability, high-quality UHPC can last more than 50 years, whereas stone may need premature replacement due to weathering, freeze-thaw damage, and other issues. These factors give UHPC a superior long-term economy.

Installation and structural costs also affect the total price. UHPC is lightweight (density 1.8-2.0 g/cm³), reducing supporting structure costs by 30%-40%; natural stone is heavy (2.6-2.8 g/cm³) and requires reinforced support. This difference is even more significant in high-rise buildings. Qinglong Group further optimizes costs through integrated design. Overall, UHPC facades deliver outstanding whole life cycle value, making them a smart investment choice.
