Curvature Protection Measures for Double-Curved GRC Panels During Transportation

Curvature protection of double-curved GRC panels during transportation is a critical part of quality assurance. Through three measures—specialized rack design, fixing methods, and transportation control—Qinglong Group has kept the transportation damage rate below 0.1%, ensuring that double-curved panels arrive safely on site.

Specialized racks are the foundation of protection. Contoured supports are custom-made according to panel curvature, with support-to-panel curvature matching of ≥95%. In the Nanning New Media Center project, Qinglong Group fabricated dedicated racks for more than 2,000 double-curved panels of varying curvatures. The supports are made of high-strength polyethylene with a hardness of Shore D 65–70, providing adequate support while preventing damage from hard contact. Support spacing is determined based on panel stiffness calculations, generally not exceeding 1/4 of the panel length, and positioned 200–300mm from the panel edges.

Fixing methods prevent displacement. A three-dimensional lashing system is used, with restraints set in the longitudinal, transverse, and vertical directions. Qinglong Group developed a pneumatic adaptive fixing device that applies controllable pressure of 0.05–0.1MPa through air cushions, ensuring even loading on the panels. Straps are fitted with buffer pads, with pressure controlled at 200–300N, as excessive tightness would cause panel deformation. Monitoring data shows that this fixing method keeps transportation vibration acceleration within 0.5g, far below the damage threshold.

Transportation is precisely controlled. Vehicle speed is limited to below 60km/h, and sudden braking is avoided. Flat transportation routes are chosen to bypass severely bumpy road sections. For long-distance transportation, Qinglong Group uses GPS and vibration monitors to track transportation conditions in real time. Upon arrival on site, panels are inspected before unloading, and any anomalies are promptly addressed. Through these measures, double-curved GRC panels can be safely transported to destinations across the country.
