How to Achieve Demountable Connections for GRC Curtain Walls?

Detachable connections are a key technology for enabling maintenance, renewal, and sustainable development of GRC curtain walls. Qinglong Group has achieved safe disassembly and reuse of GRC panels in multiple projects through standardized design, modular construction, and specialized connectors.

Standardized design is the foundation of detachable connections. Qinglong Group has modularized the dimensions of GRC panels and standardized the connection nodes. In the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC One project, standard panel sizes of 1200mm×3000mm were used together with unified connectors, enabling rapid installation and disassembly. A panel numbering management system records the installation position and status of each panel, facilitating later maintenance.

Connector design is critical. Qinglong Group has developed detachable connection systems such as snap-fit and plug-in types. The snap-fit connection secures panels with spring clamps, which can be unlocked during disassembly using only a special tool. The plug-in connection positions panels through guide slots and is suitable for unitized curtain walls. All of these connection methods have passed mechanical testing to ensure safety and reliability.

Sealing systems require special treatment. The panel joints of detachable connections use elastic sealing strips; after disassembly, panels can be reused simply by replacing the seals with new ones. In the Shenzhen project, we adopted EPDM rubber sealing strips, which offer durability of more than 20 years and do not damage panels during disassembly.

Maintenance guidelines are a supporting measure for detachable connections. Qinglong Group prepares a maintenance manual for every detachable curtain wall project, covering the disassembly sequence, precautions, and replacement criteria. Through systematic detachable design, GRC curtain walls achieve sustainable development across their full life cycle.
